A STUDENT was left bruised and feeling "completely degraded" after a bouncer allegedly kicked her and pulled her down two flights of stairs at a club.
Nula Dos Santos, 18, a first-year student at Nottingham Trent University, claimed she was assaulted by security at Rock City in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The student alleged she was kicked by one bouncer for sitting near the fire exit at the Nottingham city centre club before being dragged by four more down a flight of stairs.
Nula told the Nottinghamshire Live: "I felt completely degraded as a person, I’ve got bruises now – I'm physically hurt by it."
A spokesperson for the club refuted the claims and said the bouncers acted in a "reasonable manner".
Nula, a forensic psychology student, said she was at the venue with her flatmates when she lost her purse.
She said she took a seat on a step in a quiet corner of the club, but she was "aggressively" told by a bouncer that she shouldn’t be sitting there due to it being a fire exit.
"I was getting more and more upset as they were shouting at me aggressively," she said.
"I then felt someone kick me, and it was one of the bouncers. Then about four of five male bouncers came up to me and grabbed me by my arms.
"There were two men on each side and then one on my legs. They opened the fire exit door to another set of stairs and pulled me down to the ground.
"They pulled me down about two flights of stairs. I grabbed onto the rail because I was hurting myself as I was falling on the floor.
"I was screaming, I was really confused because I didn’t know what I’d done wrong and I hadn’t been told to leave."
The 5ft 6in student claimed she was left with "deep bruises" on her arms.
A spokesperson for Rock City said Nula was asked "multiple times" to move from a stairway as "she was blocking the route out from the balcony putting both herself in danger and causing a health and safety issue for other customers".
They said: "Our CCTV footage shows that a member of the security team had several long conversations with her to try and persuade her to move but she repeatedly returned to sit in the stairway.
"As she unfortunately remained uncooperative and resisted being ejected from the venue by attempting to lie on the floor, our door staff were required to use reasonable force to remove her as they are trained to do safely.
"We found staff acted in a reasonable manner to ensure her and others safety in the venue.
"We take the welfare of all our customers very seriously and all our door staff undergo regular training and perform an important role in keeping our venue safe for customers."
