Girl, 16, is arrested ‘for helping her stepfather murder her mother and her nine-year-old sister’ in case that has rocked Brazil

A 16-year-old girl who allegedly fell in love with her stepfather and helped him murder her mother and her nine-year-old sister, has been arrested.
Fabricio Arena, 34, was arrested by Brazilian authorities Monday and confessed to murdering his wife, Cristiane Arena, 34, in November 2020 during a fight, and then her nine-year-old daughter Karoline Guimarães a month later when she kept asking about her missing mother.
His 16-year-old stepdaughter, who told police she had hated her mother, is also implicated in their deaths and was arrested. She has denied killing her mother or sister.
On Tuesday, she led the police to their bodies, which had been buried beneath under a concrete patio next to a pool at their home in the São Paulo city of Pompeia, Brazil, according to G1.

Fabricio Arena was arrested by Brazilian authorities Monday and confessed to murdering his wife, Cristiane Arena, in November 2020 during a fight. The teen is not being named as a minor and alleged victim of sexual assault at the hands of her stepfather.
Claudio Anunciato, the police chief of Pompeia, said teenage girl’s hate for her mother was the driving factor in her decision to help Fabricio murder her mother.
‘She had problems with her mother. She didn’t like her mother, as she reported,’ Anunciato said. ‘Then she fell in love with the guy and they agreed to kill the mother.’
Fabricio, who married Cristiane in December 2015, was apprehended Monday while working at his construction job in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul.
He confessed to investigators that he had killed his wife with a knife as an act of self defense in the midst of a fight.

He also admitted to choking nine-year-old Karoline Guimarães in December after the girl had repeatedly asked about her mother’s whereabouts.
‘First he killed the woman because the daughter did not like the mother, and he already had a fight with her,’ Anunciato said.
‘They were in love. And then they killed the girl, not because nobody liked the girl, but to hide the crime. The girl’s death was so as to not bring up the first homicide.’
The Civil Police is also investigating Fabricio for allegedly raping the teen.
He told the police he had been involved in a relationship with the teen after she turned 15 in 2019.
