A teenage boy is battling for his life after being stabbed in North Melbourne on Monday night.
The 16-year-old from Box Hill met an unknown man on Stawell Street just after 5pm. He was then attacked.
The boy fled but collapsed less than one kilometre from where he was stabbed and was found by police on Dryburgh Street in West Melbourne. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuried. The attacker left the scene on foot.
Police have taped off several crime scenes, including Macaulay Road in Kensington, as the investigation continues.
The boy remains in hospital and his condition is yet to be confirmed.
