The Denver Post commenting platform switches to Viafoura on June 15, 2022

On June 15th, 2022, The Denver Post is launching a new commenting platform that will improve the experience for readers who want to share their opinions by commenting on our articles.

This enhanced reader experience will make it easier to follow articles that are trending within the community, keep up with favorite commenters, and to be alerted by email when someone replies to a post you’ve made. Most importantly, this solution, powered by Viafoura, will help us create a safe community.

An added benefit of Viafoura is the increased moderation that will ensure the high standards we have set for our community continue to be applied consistently and without prejudice. The system will reduce hate speech and harmful language in our comment section by automatically disabling comments that include profanity and includes the ability for users to flag comments they believe violate our commenting rules.

Those rules prohibit the use of vulgar language, personal name-calling or attacks, impersonating another commenter and publishing personal information, spammy links or content. Commenters must treat each other with respect and stay on point. Those who violate the rules will be banned from commenting.

We are enabling several new features to enhance your experience. For example, by clicking on the notification bell you will see your past commenting activity, be able to adjust your profile details, and see who’s following you.

We are excited to provide you with this new space and are doing everything we can to make the switchover as seamless as possible. This includes working to migrate comments made on our articles prior to the switchover to Viafoura.

You will find that on June 15 you will need to log in again if you wish to comment. You can do that by logging in with your Facebook, Google or Twitter account, or by signing up with your email address.

Denver Post subscribers will be able to link their Viafoura login credentials with their subscription account. Subscribers and ad-free premium tier subscribers will get a badge signifying their status.

We hope that you enjoy this new feature and that it improves your commenting experience. To provide feedback, comment below. If you need help or are having issues with your commenting account, please email us at [email protected].
