Chancellor Rishi Sunak has revealed that he starts his days with a 6am Pelaton session to Britney Spears songs followed by Greek yoghurt and blueberries.
Mr Sunak’s favourite exercise instructor is Cody Rigsby, 33, a professional dancer from New York who describes himself as an ‘opinionated homosexual’ to his 760,000 Instagram followers.
He is known for getting his clients to picture themselves as ‘Britney Spears in a red wig, going through lasers’ – like the popstar does in the music video for her hit song Toxic.

The chancellor has been enamoured with the £1,750 Pelaton, which requires a £39-a-month membership, since he got one last year – when sales of the modern stationary bike boomed by 172 per cent during lockdown.
It features a large touchscreen tablet fixed between the bike’s handlebars so users can join virtual exercise classes from across the world.
Mr Sunak says having his exercise routine punctuated with the dulcet tones of the American star’s pop tunes is ‘no bad thing’, according to The Times.
Mr Sunak said: ‘Actually my daughters really like Leanne Hainsby (pictured), who’s a Brit, so I’ve been trying to do some of her classes’
And the chancellor was also recommended classes by Hannah Frankson (pictured)
Who is the ‘king of quarantine’ Cody Rigsby?
Professional dancer turned fitness guru Cody Rigsby, 33, struggled to get to the lofty New York apartment he now lives in.
He was raised by single mother, Cindy, in Greensboro, North Carolina, and was homeless for three years.
But Cody said that he found respite and comfort in listening to Britney Spears and Destiny’s Child CDs.
Though he says being gay in southern American was tough and initially held him back from dance, his raw talent earned him a place at Broadway Dance Center in New York and eventually led to him dancing backup for Pitbull and Katy Perry.
It was while he was working as a host at burlesque club The Box that he was told about a company looking for instructors – Peloton.
He told Vogue: ‘I don’t believe in God, but there is some divine fate because this opportunity just came and it was the perfect fit for me.’
And now Cody, who often sports neon clothing and a single lightning bolt earring, has been called the ‘king of quarantine’.
He records his classes in an empty Peloton studio in New York while hordes of members log in to take the class live.
In a week it isn’t uncommon for one of his classes to be used by 100,000 Peloton members in a week.
Fitness guru Mr Rigsby rattles off instructions to his cycling students while telling them: ‘You are a hot, steaming plate of fajitas at a packed Chilli’s [restaurant] on a Friday night – just turning heads.’
However, Mr Sunak added that becoming chancellor of the exchequer in February 2020 has wreaked havoc on his routine and while he would like to take part in the classes twice a week, he is unable to.
While speaking to the Twenty Minute VC podcast he said: ‘I’m a huge Cody Rigsby fan. He has been my long-term favourite, which means you do have to listen to a lot of Britney — but you know, no bad thing in trying to get you motivated, I guess.’
‘I’m trying to diversify lately. Actually my daughters really like Leanne Hainsby, who’s a Brit, so I’ve been trying to do some of her classes, and someone in my office recommended Hannah Frankson. Those are the two new ones I’ve added — but Cody is my go-to.’
And the chancellor’s healthy lifestyle doesn’t stop there. Mr Sunak observes an intermittent fasting diet – meaning he restricts his calorie intake on certain days of the week but on more lenient days he is able to eat a sugary pastry after his Greek yoghurt breakfast.
He added that his go-to sugar hit is a cinnamon bun from London bakery Gail’s.
But weekends are where the real breakfast magic happens in the Sunak household.
He said: ‘We have a full cooked breakfast on Saturdays and on Sundays we alternate between pancakes and waffles… we do pancakes American-style, so the thin crispy bacon, blueberries, strawberries.’
Mr Sunak also revealed he likes mixing up his workouts with treadmill runs or high intensity interval training (HIIT) sessions at a community leisure centre in Richmond, north Yorkshire.
And the chancellor gets his workout finished before he sees his children in the morning and starts work at 7.45am.
It is believed he may have picked up some of his Californian lifestyle habits when he lived in the sunshine state while studied at Stanford University and met his wife Akshata Murthy, 41.
And the pair still have an apartment in Santa Monica.
