Twitter is suffering a major outage across Europe and the US.
The social media site is entirely unresponsive for some users and there have been a surge in reports of people experiencing problems.
It’s unclear what is causing the technical issue, which started shortly after 7pm.
According to web monitor Down Detector, the problem is impacting users on both sides of the Atlantic.
Some people trying to access the website on a computer web browser are met only with a loading page.
The company’s mobile phone app was also experiencing a big slowdown.
According to internet tracker Netblock, the platform is ‘experiencing international outages’.
It said the problem did not appear to be ‘related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering’.
A Twitter spokesperson confirmed an issue was affecting the site but did not provide further information.
They said: ‘Twitter may not be loading for some of you – we’re working on a fix to get you back to your timelines ASAP.’
The social media site last experienced a major technical problem in mid-July which last for nearly three hours.
