Two dead after shooting in Germany as gunman with assault rifle at large

Two people have been killed by a gunman who is still on the run in Germany.

Police are currently scouring the area looking for the gunman after two bodies were found at a property in the Rosenweg area of Dänischenhagen

Police have cordoned off the brewery district in Kiel – a port city on Germany’s Baltic Sea coast – following the incident.

A man with an assault rifle is said to have been seen in the area, KN Online reports.

A state police office spokeswoman said police are looking into a white SUV, which can "possibly be assigned to the perpetrator", Focus.DE reports.

Local residents have been warned to stay in their homes by emergency services.

The Holtenauer Straße in Kiel is currently closed to traffic.

In a tweet, the local police service wrote: "We currently have an ongoing one in downtown Kiel.

"We will provide more information here shortly."

In another tweet it added: "There has been a homicide in Dänischenhagen. We are searching for the perpetrator. There is no evidence of a rampage. We will inform you as soon as more is known."
