A militant vegan activist has been unmasked as a hypocrite who secretly flogs designer leather handbags on eBay.

Rafal Mysakowski, 41, has been littering the Scottish Highlands with messages painted on stones, such as: ‘Be kind to animals or I’ll kill you.’

He boasted about his campaign to place offensive graffiti on the top of 282 mountains, including Ben Nevis, on an Instagram account called ‘bloodthirsty_vegan_sausage’.

One slogan spelt out ‘Meat’ with the acrostic ‘Murder Evil Agony Torture’, and in another message he referenced Will Smith’s Oscars outburst with the phrase ‘Keep my animal friends out of your f****** mouth’.

Now it can be revealed he is raking in thousands selling leather handbags from his flat in Edinburgh.

He has made £5,677 from 63 items – all either Gucci or Burberry – since January. They are marked as ‘100 per cent authentic’ and ‘vintage’, mainly from the last 20 years – meaning they are real leather.

The most expensive was a Gucci messenger bag sold for £550 on March 5. The listing stated: ‘Excellent condition – used only a couple of times, no signs of wear’.

His most profitable Burberry item was a £255 shoulder bag described as being in ‘very good condition’.

Mr Mysakowski had a busy day on February 5, selling eight bags for £459.90. Just hours after the hammer went down on the last item, he posted ‘leave the cows alone’ after hiking up the Grampians for his campaign.

Burberry has been singled out for criticism by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) because it became one of the last fashion houses to ditch fur in 2018.

Peta also attacked Gucci in a hard-hitting investigation last December, which showed workers decapitating lizards to make handbags.

It said: ‘The lizards’ legs are tied, then they’re callously thrown around and beheaded without stunning – causing them a prolonged, agonizing death.’

Mr Mysakowski has profited from the two brands while dumping vegan slogans on about 100 of the 282 Munros – Scottish summits over 3,000ft – to date. Other hikers have confronted him and his wife Katarzyna, labelling them ‘criminals destroying nature who should be reported to the police’. Ramblers Scotland and Mountaineering Scotland have urged him to heed the ‘leave no trace’ policy in the region – but he has ignored them.

Hillwalker Anne Butler was shocked to find a stone with ‘Be kind to animals or I’ll kill you’ scrawled on it. She said: ‘Whatever your beliefs, leaving them painted on a cairn on a remote Munro top is nothing more than an act of vandalism.’

When approached by the Daily Mail at their £130,000 flat, the couple said: ‘Sorry, we have nothing to say.’

Mr Mysakowski’s Instagram profile picture is a cartoon of a hooded figure wearing a slasher mask and wielding a bloody knife, roses and a love heart reading ‘f*** you’. While he appears to make a living via the online auction website, his wife is listed as an accountant on LinkedIn.
