Who is Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds' husband?

REPUBLICAN member Kim Reynolds is currently the 43rd Governor of Iowa.

Before her post as governor, Reynolds served as the Lieutenant Governor of Iowa from 2011 to 2017.

Who is Kim Reynolds?

Reynolds, 61, became Governor of Iowa in May 2017 when her predecessor, Terry Branstad, stepped down to become United States Ambassador to China.

Despite her success in politics, Reynolds has had a history with alcoholism.

In the past, the 61-year-old has been charged twice with driving under the influence of alcohol, first in 1999 and again in 2000.

In 2000, she was initially charged with an aggravated misdemeanor but pleaded guilty to a lesser offense.

In 2017, Reynolds stated that she sought inpatient treatment for alcoholism following her second arrest and said she had been sober for nearly 17 years.

Who is Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds' husband?

Reynolds and her husband Kevin have been married since 1982.

The couple have three daughters together, Jennifer, Nicole and Jessica.

Kevin earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in Agronomy.

His first job was with the County of Pottawattamie in soil and water conservation.

Throughout his career, Kevin has worked for the US Department of Agriculture first as a Soil Conservationist and later as a District Conservationist.

As First Gentleman of Iowa, Kevin is keenly focused on preserving and enhancing Terrace Hill (the Governor’s Mansion).

Why is Reynolds trending?

On May 20, Reynolds signed legislation into law that blocks mask mandates from being implemented in K-12 schools and prohibits cities and counties from requiring facial coverings in businesses.

Under the new law, public and private schools cannot enforce or implement a policy requiring school employees, students, or visitors to wear a facial covering while on the premises.

Schools can only enforce mask mandates for a "specific extracurricular or instructional purpose" or as required under the existing Iowa law for eye and ear protective devices.

However, masks can still be worn optionally.

The state is relaxing state-wide mask mandate policies in the wake of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's updated guidance that allows vaccinated people to go maskless in most cases.
