Wrestling legend Windham Rotunda, known to WWE fans as Bray Wyatt has died 'unexpectedly' aged 36.
The announcement was broken on Twitter by Paul "Triple H" Levesque, who says he received the news from Windham's father.
WWE's Triple shared on Twitter on Thursday (August 24): "Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time."

The news of Windham’s death was a shocking and devastating revelation as a report surfaced earlier this month that the former champion was nearing a return to the ring after battling a “life-threatening illness.”
Details of Windham’s passing have not yet been shared, however professional wrestlers and fans have taken to social media to share their condolences.
WWE’s Matt Hardy penned: “Absolutely shattered to learn that my friend, Windham Rotunda, has passed away. It’s devastating to think he left us at only 36 years young. My condolences go out to his family, wife & children. I’m so sorry, my compeer. Miss you already.”
While, wrestling’s Ettore 'Big E' Ewen shared: “Man…the first dude that took me under his wing when I got signed in 2009. We spent so much of our adult lives together. Praying for Jojo. Praying for his kids. I will miss your laugh & your boyish charm, my friend. Goodbye, Windham.”
Following his return on the premium live event a few months back, Bray penned a heartfelt promo thanking fans for welcoming him back and helping him through the tough times after his release.
"I am incredibly grateful. I’m really, really nervous to be here. I never thought this would happen," he said.
Adding: "This right here, this is just me OK? This is a version of me I never got to introduce to you guys before. This is just me being me – genuine me – for the first time."
