The Chase star Anne Hegerty, 62, said while she still gets “attracted to people” she doesn’t want a romance and prefers to stay “isolated”. Her admission comes after she previously said many of her fans assumed she is gay. On single life, she said: “It’s brilliant. I really don’t feel I’m missing out on relationships. I’m doing fine.

“Quite apart from the fact that I’m probably not his type… I’m going to leave him very baffled and wondering what he’s done wrong.

“I love being isolated,” she added to The Mirror.

The quizmaster went on to say she urges her friends to be on their own after complaining about relationships.

Anne previously said she had received many messages from admirers who assumed she was gay.

Speaking to Express.co.uk this week, Anne insisted the messages had died down and that she was cautious about people messaging her in case they are contestants on the show.

The Chasers have to declare whether they know somebody or if that person had tried to contact them, as part of ITV rules.

She said of the flirty messages: “The awkward thing is I do quite often get lots of flirty Twitter messages from women.

“I have to say to them I’m very flattered, but at the same time your gaydar is broken.

“Quite often they say yes I didn’t think you were, just thought I’d try my luck,” she added to The Sun.

But, Anne added despite assumption “any kind of attention is nice”.

The Governess star rose to fame on the show in 2010.

She has since gone on to front her own show Britain’s Brightest Family.

The new celebrity series returned to screens earlier this week, with Colin Jackson and his family playing against Ruddock brothers.

Anne has said she would love to have a Chasers version of the show.

She spilled: “It would be quite fun to have a show that was the Chasers and their families. I shouldn’t imagine they will ever do that.

“But I know my fellow Chasers have actually got pretty smart families.”

The quizzer went on to say she believes host Bradley Walsh would also be good for the show, as his wife and son are intelligent.

Other celebrities taking part in the series include Vanessa Feltz, Matthew Wright, Joe Pasquale, Antony Cotton, Craig Charles and Rita Simons.

Who will make it through and get closer to the chance of winning £25,000 for their chosen charity?

Britain’s Brightest Celebrity Family airs one Thursday at 8.30pm on ITV.
