Ashley Cain has paid tribute to his late daughter Azaylia by gathering family together to host a first birthday party at her graveside.
Azaylia tragically passed away aged eight months in April following a six month battle with leukaemia.
Ashley and his partner Safiyya Vorajee visited her grave with family and friends carrying balloons, flowers and gifts.
And the proud dad gave a touching speech to mark the occasion, saying: "Azaylia Diamond Cain, what a human being,
"Inspired the world during such a tough time – not only us but the entire world,
"She changed the world and will continue to change the world with her legacy."
Ashley thanked his family and friends for attending as they all held birthday balloons in her memory.
The former footballer had wished his daughter happy birthday at the start of the day, taking to Instagram to share a series of videos of his baby girl.
Ashley captioned the post: “Happy Heavenly 1st Birthday Azaylia Diamond Cain – You’re not only my daughter, you’re my best friend, my guardian Angel, my inspiration and my true hero
“You brought love, happiness and hope to not only your family, but an entire world who was locked up and locked down. A true inspiration that showed people they can be strong, brave and fight through anything life throws at them… And do it all with a smile on their face!
“You were a special baby, you are now a special angel and you will always be my special little girl!
“Until we are reunited again my baby, I love you more than life itself and I miss you so much that it hurts. Happy Heavenly 1st Birthday Champ”
The night prior to the big day, Ashley had shared with fans how difficult it was for him to be without her.
He shared a series of story posts in her memory, with Azaylia’s mother Safiyya also posting herself.
Safiyya remembered her daughter by recounting the day she was born to her Instagram fans.
She wrote: “My beautiful princess this time last year I was in hospital in labour.
“Azaylia was born at 6.56 The best day of my life. ONE TODAY & one big star.
“My heart is in pieces a year later, today is going to be incredibly tough.”
