Aussie comedian makes brutal joke about Prince Harry’s ‘real dad’… after false rumours Princess Diana’s lover James Hewitt fathered her child

The comedians on Australian panel show Have You Been Paying Attention? sunk their claws into the British Royal Family yet again on Monday night.

Funnyman Ed Kavalee made a joke about Princess Diana’s lover James Hewitt being the biological father of Prince Harry – a claim that has been categorically debunked.

Quizmaster Tom Gleisner showed the panel a photo of Harry, 36, with a mystery companion whose face was blurred, and asked: ‘Two famous redheads got together this week. Who is Prince Harry with here?’

‘His real dad?’ Ed responded, prompting a disapproving look from the show’s host.

‘Come on, Tommy!’ he added.

In reality, Harry had caught up with British singer Ed Sheeran at the WellChild charity event in London last week.

Former cavalry officer Hewitt, 63, has long denied false rumours he is the biological father of Prince Harry, with whom he shares similar physical traits including red hair.

The paternity rumours are of course bogus, as Hewitt didn’t meet Diana until two years after Harry was born.

In a 2017 interview with Seven’s Sunday Night, he was asked point-blank by host Melissa Doyle if he, not Prince Charles, was Harry’s ‘real dad’.

He firmly responded: ‘No, I’m not!’

When pressed about the false rumours that have persisted for decades, he added: ‘It sells papers. It’s worse for him, probably, poor chap.’

Popular: Have You Been Paying Attention? is the most popular panel show Down Under, and is considered Australia’s answer to Britain’s Mock the Week

Princess Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997, started her affair with Hewitt in 1986 after she asked him to be her horse riding instructor.

Harry was born on September 15, 1984.

Their secret relationship blossomed as rumours swirled her husband, Charles, was having an affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles, whom he would later marry.

Hewitt now leads a lonely life as a recluse in Devon.
