Ben Affleck says his children define his ‘worth’… as he talks about ‘second chances’ after addiction battle and THOSE Jennifer Garner comments
Ben Affleck continued to delve into intimate details about fatherhood, his sobriety and even second chances during his appearance Friday on Good Morning America.
The 49-year-old Last Duel actor spoke about how his children make him ‘better’ and shared his very real fear that he would pass some of his ‘missteps’ and ‘failures’ onto them.
Reflecting on the mistakes he’s made — which include aspects of his past substance abuse and even snide remarks about his ex Jennifer Garner — he maintained that the job he does as a dad would always define his ‘worth’ as a person.

‘The only biography that needs anything is written on the hearts of your kids,’ Affleck said of the three children he shares with Garner: Violet, 16, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, nine.
‘I will be long dead and someone will ask my kids, “What was your dad like?” and that is when I will know what my life was worth,’ he continued.
Throughout the course of the chat he also expressed a relatable fear — the worry that he would pass his demons or his shortcomings onto his children.
‘We all want to pass on the best of ourselves to our children. I don’t care who you are, I’m quite sure you feel at some point in your life you’ve taken missteps, nobody wants to transfer that to our children and that is a real task that everybody faces, whatever those issues are.’

Affleck stressed the importance of second chances amid comments he made Monday about his marriage to Garner and his renewed relationship with former fiancée Jennifer Lopez.
He found himself in hot water after he told Howard Stern his ‘drinking’ issues were due to feeling ‘trapped’ in his marriage with the 13 Going On 30 star.
Affleck stated that if he and Garner would have stayed married that they ‘would’ve ended up … probably at each other’s throats,’ and added: ‘I’d probably still be drinking. It’s part of why I started drinking … because I was trapped.’
After incurring backlash for seeming to blame his issues on his ex, he clarified the statements during a Jimmy Kimmel appearance on Wednesday.

Affleck had maintained that the words got twisted and taken out of context, and said ‘I would never want my kids to think I would ever say a bad word about their mom.’
‘I feel like at the end of the day everybody needs second chances,’ Affleck said on GMA. ‘I don’t know anybody who does everything right. We all fail. That’s the truth.’
‘There aren’t enough movies, there isn’t enough success, not enough likes on Instagram. Those things will never fill you up or make you happy,’ he maintained before saying his kids personally make him whole.
‘My life is better and I am happier the more I am around my kids.’
