Billie Eilish admits ‘it took six weeks to accomplish’ her new platinum blonde look… forcing her to hide her hair with wigs for MONTHS
She previously admitted to wearing a wig in recent months to hide her newly lightened locks.
And Billie Eilish opened up some more about her covert hair-coloring experience on Saturday when she put on a Q&A for fans in her Insta Stories.
The 19-year-old singer–songwriter said she had to keep the new hairdo under wraps because it had to be lightened gradually over six weeks to accomplish the perfect platinum blond hue.
Keep it secret: Billie Eilish, 19, answered fan questions Saturday on Instagram and confirmed that she wore a wig in recent months because it took weeks to achieve her new platinum blond look
One fan asked Billie why she had been hiding her hair for so long, and she replied, ‘Cause it took six weeks to accomplish… this was the first round.’
Accompanying her reply was a photo dated back to January 16 which showed her with silvery platinum hair at her roots that turned to a shade of red further down her strands.
Although wearing wigs to hide her hair was likely an annoyance, taking it slow proved to be the best option for her hair’s health, as she gushed about how thick it looked after a fan asked if it had been ‘damaged’ from the ‘bleaching process.’
‘Honestly so healthy and I wasn’t expecting that at all,’ she wrote to accompany a photo of her platinum tresses.
Slow going: One fan asked Billie why she had been hiding her hair for so long, and she replied, ‘Cause it took six weeks to accomplish… this was the first round.’ She had a platinum top int he photo but redder hair toward the ends of her strands
Surprise! She admitted she was surprised at how healthy her hair was after the lengthy bleaching and dying process
‘It’s actually healthier than it’s been in a longggggggg time,’ she added.
The photo showed her outdoors and wearing a mask as she looked down to show off her hair and bangs.
The healthy hair was so voluminous that it almost looked like a wig because her scalp was barely visible.
Last month, Billie’s hairstylist Lisa Renn wrote on social media that she had been taking her time lightening her client’s hair, which was then a deep shade of black.
‘The process is real when you’re doing it right. 6 weeks to get all the black of of her ends without damaging it, along with her following my strict haircare regime. We actually loved all the stages of lifting the color too but the end result is [fire emoji],’ she wrote via People.

The otherwise modest shirt was enlivened with some peaceful images of doves flapping their wings.
Her new platinum tresses were cut so that they rested delicately on her shoulders, with some extra hair cascading down her back.

It may have been the start of the weekend, but she looked as if she had a serious case of the Mondays with her dour expression, which was partially hidden behind a white surgical mask.
