Elsewhere, Brendan weighed in on Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin’s racy dance routine, which saw them writhing around a pole during the episode filmed at Blackpool Tower.

Drama: The ballroom dancer, who left is role as a professional on the BBC competition in 2017, said that while he understood the actor’s frustration he should have shown more ‘humility’
He explained: ‘You’ve got to have humility in this little game of showbusiness and you learn that with age, I didn’t have it as a youngster, but I certainly try to have it now and on a show like Strictly you need to pick your moments.
‘If you need to storm off, do it in private, go and have a tantrum or a sulk in your dressing room but then compose yourself, come back out and be a supporter of everybody else doing the show.
‘I do understand the frustration that he would have felt. I’m pretty sure he would have felt like he’d done a really good number because he doesn’t necessarily know the difference between bad or good at this stage.
‘He doesn’t know the aspects that make a good Quickstep turn into a great Quickstep.
‘He did what was being asked of him but there was certainly something missing and when you don’t understand that you can be bitterly disappointed to receive any sort of negativity.
‘He will need to be careful because people will give you one chance, but they might not give two or three. It’s a shame because I really like what he does and I’d like to see him and Katya Jones fighting to win in the final.’
West End star Layton, 29, showed off his pole dancing skills during his steamy dance with his professional partner Nikita at the weekend.
The pair blew judges away with the Couple’s Choice dance to Ain’t No Other Man by Christina Aguilera, with the actor impressively doing the standing splits halfway up the pole and then writhing around it in the racy routine.

Commenting on their performance, Brendan added: ‘I’m very surprised Layton and Nikita’s number got the nod from producers. If I were a producer on the show, I’d have said “no it doesn’t work, we’ll save it for another week” and I’m surprised the judges didn’t mention it either.
‘Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe number was a Blackpool number, I didn’t think she danced it particularly well, it was ok, but I’d still rather watch that 10 times over that Leyton and Nikita’s, even though she’s not a patch of a dancer on Leyton.
‘Maybe I’m stuck in the past, but I just think the whole basis of Strictly is a competition based mainly around Ballroom and Latin dancing.
‘It felt like I was watching a Magic Mike show and that’s not something I like to see on Strictly. I think Layton has done better performances.
‘If I were in Nikita’s shoes, I’d be changing my vision and stop doing west end show cases. I’d put out something so beautiful that the majority of Strictly watchers could fall in love with and would love to see.’

Mindful: On Monday, Nigel broke his silence after he ‘stormed out’ of the Strictly Come Dancing studio on Saturday evening
Deep: He kicked off the week with an emotional post as he ‘continued’ his focus on meditation for the upcoming week
‘Let’s find a comfortable position…..closing the eyes or lowering the gaze….. Allowing yourself to settle and taking a full breath; in for five, then out for five.’
He continued the lengthy caption: ‘Do this a couple of times and when you are ready filling the body with a half-smile of kindness.Imagining a warm, glowing feeling in the chest, growing through the belly and down to your feet, radiating throughout the body.
‘Ask yourself, “What am I grateful for today?” Don’t overthink it, it doesn’t need to be deep, it can be family, friends, or a favourite walk or mug. Just something that brings a little smile or comfort. Bring this image or person to mind and notice how it feels in the body, using a curious, kind attention.’
‘Allowing this positive feeling of gratitude to fill the entire being. And when you’re ready, opening the eyes. Trying to think about all the things you are grateful for can help bring awareness as you go through the day,’ Nigel went on.
‘Don’t worry if you find this hard initially, asking the question is a good start. Over time you will notice there are things to be grateful for everywhere.’
‘I encourage you to share below, our gratitude can spread through this chat and out into the world,’ he finished.

‘She’s making me into a better dancer, I don’t know how she’s doing it but she is.
‘Do I find her strict? I don’t think I do, no. Sometimes I need a bit of discipline because if you’re not careful I’ll start rambling about anything just to distract her, so I don’t have to dance.’
