‘This is not his gig’: BRIT Awards viewers think Mo Gilligan struggled as host and poke fun at him for THAT Lewis Capaldi gaffe
Mo Gilligan’s stint as BRIT Awards host appears to have not gone down well with many of the event’s viewers.
The comedian, 34, returned as host for this year’s show after previously fronting proceedings at the 2022 ceremony.
Fans took to Twitter to voice their opinion on his skills as MC, which saw him do a shot with Harry Styles, chat with the stars in the crowd and accidentally introduce Lewis Capaldi as Sam Capaldi.
One user harshly wrote: ‘Mo Gilligan can only ask questions, he can’t interact with any answers the people he’s speaking give. The most awkward Brit host.’
Another said: ‘I think Mo Gilligan is fab but the Brits is not his gig,’ while another asked: ‘Am I the only one that doesn’t find Mo Gilligan funny?’

Others poked fun at The Masked Singer judge for referring to Lewis Capaldi as ‘Sam’ while introducing him.
Others had a more positive assessment of his performance, with one saying: ‘We all know this already but Mo Gillian is brilliant.’
Another said: ‘Mo Gillian went from “get a couple cans!” to being one of the nation’s favourite TV hosts. We’ve really seen his carer flourish before our eyes.’
A third viewer addded: ‘You have to understand Mo Gillian is a household name now.’
During his gaff, Mo said: ‘Here with his number one single Forget Me it’s the brilliant – go crazy – Sam Capaldi.’
Lewis appeared unperturbed by the mishap, getting straight on with his live vocal performance.
Recognising his mistake, Mo apologised for the mix up after Lewis’s performance.

Meanwhile, Harry Styles swept the ceremony as he took home four awards – winning in every category he was nominated in – including the coveted Artist of the Year.
The singer, 29, who said he is ‘aware of his privilege’, dedicated the award to several female artists who weren’t nominated after the BRITs received criticism for its all-male Artist of the Year lineup when the category went gender neutral.
He also took home awards for Album of the Year for Harry’s House, Song of the Year for As It Was and Pop/R&B Act during during the show.
