Britney Spears’ friend says she ‘lost bright star in her eyes’ from conservatorship battle

One of Britney Spears’ close friends has said that the singer “lost the bright star in her eyes” during her conservatorship battle.

From 2008 to 2021, Britney was under tight control from her father, Jamie Spears, until a judge ruled that the singer could make her own medical and financial decisions.

Recalling last year’s climactic courtroom battle, close friend Julianne Kaye said that her friend lost the spark in her eyes, and she could tell that something “was just so wrong.”

The two first met when Julianne was 23 and working as a Hollywood stylist, and soon enough, she would join Britney on tours across Europe and Asia.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Julianne explained: "[Britney] was a star, a huge star."

She continued: "During the conservatorship, that light that shined so brightly was gone.

"You could see it in her eyes. If you knew her, you saw something was just so wrong.

"Britney was my friend before she was my client. I mean in the sense of friendship over work. So, I really cared very deeply about her and I still do."

OK! has contacted a representative for Britney for comment.

Following the conservatorship’s end, Britney posted an impassioned monologue about her relationship with the entertainment industry.

The mum of two penned: "After 14 years of telling me no to what I wanted… it's ruined for me… but that wasn't the worst part… the worst part was my family locking me up in that place for 4 months… Jesus f***ing Christ…

"I'd like to see somebody tell Jennifer Lopez to sit down 8 hours a day 7 days a week… no car, own security of 5 years telling me at my own door I can't walk outside for 4 months…no door for privacy… and watched me change naked and shower…"

"Pssss… you say do what you want to do now," she added. "Really 14 years later after being humiliated… it's WAY too late for that… again I'd rather stay home and s*** in my f***ing pool than join the entertainment business."

In a separate post, she added: "They ruined it for me, embarrassed me, and made me feel like absolutely nothing.”

Fans were upset at the idea of a world without new Britney music, but they understood where the singer was coming from.

Despite her claims, music producer Benny Blanco later told TMZ that he was working on new music with the Toxic singer.

“I actually recently just reached out to try to start working on some stuff. Like a month ago. I hope [to work with Britney] soon… We were talking about trying to do something. I love her new things she put out. She's incredible. I hope she is doing it,” he explained.
