Jess penned on Twitter: ‘Tom Kerridge’s ready made fish pie for home for 4 – £60 My fish pie with broccoli for 4 – £6.98 Just saying.’

Sharing some photos to her account, she shared the brilliant results of her homemade dish and a breakdown of the ingredients used.

He previously shared concerns over the increasing cost of ingredients in the UK, swapping out diners’ favourites such as beef and cod for cheaper options.

The Michelin-star chef had been making changes to his restaurant menus to try and reduce the burden on their customers.

Tom and and chef Simon Gillies cited the war in Ukraine and post-pandemic recovery for the rising cost in favourite ingredients as the cost of living rises in the UK.

As well as the war in Ukraine, Kerridge said a recruitment issue is affecting the hospitality industry which has not recovered from closures during the pandemic.

Kerridge said many older members of staff took early retirement when lockdown hit, and also suggested Brexit had affected the influx of European workers.

It’s not the first time that Tom has sold expensive meal kits after he came under-fire for charging £195 for a Christmas dinner for a family-of-four you have to cook yourself.

The TV chef was branded out of touch for the eye-watering price amid the cost of living crisis.

Some said it was a ‘rip-off’ – despite it looking ‘mouthwatering’.

It comes after the chef was blasted over the price of his £87 steak in his Buckinghamshire restaurant – with the chef hitting back, asking when profit became a dirty word?

The Beef Wellington Christmas Box works out at £48.75 per head.

It comes with a side dish of pigs in blankets and a red wine sauce plus a dessert of sticky toffee pudding and salted caramel fudge. But there are no potatoes and vegetables.

The Christmas before, Kerridge was criticised for charging up to £140 for a tiny turkey for up to eight people.

And late last year his restaurant The Hand and Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire. was also slammed for charging £87 for a sirloin steak.

The lamb was also £69 lamb and the venison loin £60 – despite being marketed as ‘casual’ and ‘accessible’.
