Having a Wales of a time! Prince Charles, Diana and the boys on holiday in Majorca even as the storm clouds gathered over their marriage (as imagined by The Crown)
It has been criticised for painting a negative – and often untrue – picture of the Royal Family.
But while the next series of Netflix drama The Crown will chart the tumultuous breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage, it will not shy away from depicting some of their happier times, too.
Our exclusive pictures show the couple – played by Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki – frolicking in the Spanish surf with their beloved sons.

The 31-year-old Australian actress previously visited Majorca to film the acclaimed BBC drama The Night Manager.
This time, she donned a green swimming costume, white shorts and shades to play in the Mediterranean with her two on-screen sons, played by Timothee Sambor, 11, and Teddy Hawley, seven.
The fifth season of the Netflix hit, due to air in November next year, will chronicle the breakdown of the couple’s stormy marriage and their eventual divorce in 1996.

But Charles, Diana, William and Harry enjoyed happy trips to Majorca in 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1990 – while Diana also visited the island following her divorce.
On the 1990 trip, Charles and Diana met Spain’s King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, on their yacht, where they watched the Copa del Rey regatta.
During their holidays, Charles reportedly enjoyed painting watercolours – while Diana was happier swimming and, as shown here, jet-skiing with her boys.
Ms Debicki has called it a ‘privilege and honour’ to play Diana.
