Chef Marco Pierre White sports a new look during Sunrise interview

Marco Pierre White doesn’t look like this anymore: British chef, 61, is almost unrecognisable as he makes a surprise appearance on Aussie TV

Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White sported a bold new look during an interview on Australian breakfast show Sunrise on Tuesday.

The British restauranteur, 61, is in Australia to promote his upcoming speaking tour, which kicks off Down Under in May.

He wore a white shirt and black vest and sported a pair of round-rimmed spectacles while chatting to co-hosts David Koch and Natalie Barr.

His appearance was notably different to how he looked the last time he was a regular on Aussie TV, which was in 2017 when he hosted Hell’s Kitchen for Channel Seven.

He spoke to Koch and Barr about his lengthy career, from becoming the youngest chef to ever receive three Michelin stars to what he thinks of Australian cuisine.

He also had a flirty exchange with Barr while rating her cooking skills.

‘You’re real good looking by the way!’ Marco teased her as he sampled her cooking.

‘It’s deliciously interesting,’ he added of her lemongrass and ginger fish, before telling her to add some chicken stock to stop the sauce being so ‘harsh’.

Marco also said it was ‘wonderful’ being so successful at such a young age, but soon found his working life ‘boring’ because his cooking became routine.

‘You’re being judged by people who have less knowledge than you, and you place your value on them, but it’s a wonderful journey,’ he said.

‘As a young man, winning three [Michelin] stars is very exciting, but then when you’ve won it, it’s quite boring [when] people want to have those specialties, it’s conveyor belt cuisine,’ he said.

He then said Australian food is ‘some of the best food in the world’ as ‘Australians are great at stripping back that formality’ when it comes to dining.

Marco was on Australian soil just last year to film a guest role on MasterChef.

He used to be a regular guest judge on MasterChef back in the day, but left the show for Hell’s Kitchen after co-host Matt Preston criticised his son Marco Pierre White Jr.

In 2017, Marco vowed ‘on his mother’s grave’ to get back at Preston after comments he made on Sydney radio about Marco Jr.’s wild lifestyle of drug binges and sex with prostitutes.

‘That’s that whole rich, London trust fund babe, trustifarian-type stuff – it’s another world,’ said Preston.

Marco Sr. was so incensed by what the English food critic had said that he refused to even discuss it during a television interview the following year.

Marco Jr., 28, was last week released after a year in jail for a spree of shoplifting, possessing a knife, possessing heroin and racially abusing a security guard.

Pierre White’s stage show at the State Theatre begins on May 25
