Chloe Madeley reveals how famous parents affected her relationships

Chloe Madeley says seeing her parents Richard and Judy ‘do everything together’ affected her relationships as she didn’t realise ‘that’s not normal’

Chloe Madeley has said watching her parents Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan ‘do everything together’ has affected her own relationships.

The personal trainer, 33, explained that she didn’t realise it wasn’t ‘normal’ to always be with a partner and admitted it ‘took a really long time’ to change her thinking.

She also credited husband James Haskell, 35, with helping her realise this isn’t the case for many couples as he was very committed to his rugby career when they met.

Honest: Chloe Madeley has said watching her parents Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan ‘do everything together’ has affected her own relationships

Chloe told the Daily Star: ‘I grew up watching my parents do everything together. It took me a really long time to realise that’s not normal’

‘I’m really lucky that I found James when I did – because he was a rugby player, so I wasn’t going to come first.

‘With a rugby player, it’s them and their career – and you like it or lump it’.

Chloe often speaks candidly about growing up with famous parents and recently joked that she feels ‘no shame’ after her mother’s dress slipped down while on stage at the National Television Awards.

Admitting that she likes doing ‘sexy shoots’, Chloe said her parents own escapades helped her overcome any embarrassment.

Something which has helped her shed the embarrassment was when her mother and TV presenter Judy revealed her bra at the 2000 awards ceremony.

Chloe recalled that she was 13 when Judy accidentally exposed her bra while accepting an award with Richard, with whom she co-presented ITV’s This Morning.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, Chloe added that her brother Jack had ‘a complete meltdown’, but she didn’t care as long as Judy was okay.

She continued: ‘And she was like, “Oh, it’s fine. It’s funny. Thank God I was wearing a bra. Imagine if I hadn’t been”.

‘Being in the public eye, if you can’t laugh at yourself, you’re gonna hate every second of it.

‘I’ve generally got no shame. I really like doing sexy shoots… And I’ve learned from my parents not to take myself too seriously.’

Chloe has spent lockdown with husband James, admitting she’s adopted a more relaxed approach to diet and fitness during the pandemic with his help.

Couple: Richard and Judy hosted This Morning from 1988 until 2001 before getting their own daytime TV show, which ran from 2001 to 2009

Chloe told Closer Magazine how she had been getting in shape for a big photoshoot in June and was in the middle of a ‘fat loss phase’ when lockdown kicked in in March.

As she was in the midst of her fat loss, James noted that he wanted to use their free time to enjoy more time together and have ‘date nights’, leading Chloe to realise that it was unrealistic to try and maintain her strict diet during lockdown.

After giving up her strict routine, the TV personality said she now doesn’t ‘care’ about what she looks like and instead focuses on just being ‘fit, active and healthy’.
