Sean Fletcher, 47, was forced to miss presenting the series finale of Sunday Morning Live, revealing he has tested positive for Covid. The Good Morning Britain host shared the news on Twitter yesterday morning, along with a selection of photographs detailing the dramatic moment he found out.
Sean told his 40,000 followers he’d had “quite a morning” after receiving the positive result.
As if the news that he would be self-isolating over Christmas wasn’t bad enough, Sean sliced his finger with a knife, and it bled everywhere.
The presenter wrote: “Quite a morning. Positive LFT backed up by positive PCR. Went downstairs for breakfast and cut my finger with a bread knife.
“Couldn’t stop it bleeding.
“Patched myself up for [Sunday Morning Live] on zoom with Adrian Chiles covering for me and Jacqui Joseph.
“Gutted to miss presenting series finale.”
He went on to thank Adrian for stepping into his presenting duties, saying: “Thanks for stepping in Adrian.
“And thanks to everyone for watching this series. See you for another series in the summer.”
Sean was inundated with messages from concerned fans.
His co-presenter Jacqui said: “Wait… you were having a chat with us when you were injured? That’s why you’re Sean! Our very own superhero… sending healing vibes. Look after yourself lovely.”
A viewer named Mandy Holland replied: “Oh no, I am in self-isolation too until December 28. What a time to get it.”
Selina penned: “Wishing Sean Fletcher well as the bl**dy virus makes him miss the last Sunday Morning Live of the year.”

It was announced today that GMB will be pulled off air over the Christmas period over Covid fears.
The shock move comes in a bid to “protect” those who front the show and work behind the scenes.
An ITV spokesperson said: “GMB was due to be on air from Wednesday 29 – Friday 31 December 2021 but due to the pandemic and to protect our teams, we have decided to give them an extended break.
“GMB will not broadcast next week but will be back on air on Tues 4 Jan 2022.”
There will still be a pre-recorded Christmas special of Good Morning Britain which will air from 7am to 9am.
A source told The Sun: “This is all but unheard of, to lose a whole week of a flagship show like this. It just shows how alarmed everyone is within the network and on the show itself.
“We even aired throughout the height of the pandemic, but lately it is becoming near impossible with staffing shortages and fears about the Christmas period being derailed for everyone.
“Hopefully things will get back to normal early in the New Year – it’s a big blow for the network, and for advertising too.”
