His new wife also shared snaps from the ceremony as she penned: ‘Today we officially became Mr & Mrs Cipriani in a small intimate setting with our nearest and dearest.

‘We are looking forward to our big day Caribbean style when travel is permitted.  Cheers to love, laughter, but especially to our happily ever after. Our adventure begins @dannycipriani87 I love you ♥️’.

The wedding appears to mark the start of a new chapter for Danny, who is known for his turbulent love life and off-pitch scandals as much as his sporting career.

The happy news also comes six months after the couple’s heartbreaking revelation that they lost their first child together while Victoria was 24 weeks pregnant.

Danny did not state when their loss happened but instead wrote a positive post in October about how the couple had navigated their way through their experience

Sweet: The former rugby ace announced the news on Instagram on Tuesday as he penned, ‘Officially Mrs Cipriani @victoriarosecipriani – married my best friend today!!’

The couple opted for informal looks for the ceremony, with Danny sporting an untucked white short and grey trousers with trainers.

Blushing bride Victoria stuck with tradition and wore white, but opted for a ribbed knitted midi dress that she teamed with pink court heels.

The mental health worker added to the glamour by draping herself in a Louis Vuitton shawl and donned a blingy silver watch.

Sweet: The couple shared their big news on Instagram as they gushed over their wedding day, with Victoria promising this would only be the first ceremony they have

Sweet: Victoria shared a snap from their small legal ceremony with her son Kameron as she explained that the pair were still planning on having a wedding in the Caribbean later on

Danny’s new wife was born Victoria Rose O’Callaghan and is from Derby, but has also used the surnames Hare and Newbold throughout her life.

Victoria is a mum to two kids, Jade Austin, 25, and her teenage son Kameron, 15, which means Danny is set to become a step-dad to her brood.

She is also a grandmother, as her daughter Jade has a five-year-old child of her own.

Victoria had two long-term relationships before falling for Danny, including with Steven Austin, who is the father of her daughter, and ex-boyfriend Gavin Dunnicliffe.

Gifts: Victoria also shared a sweet snap of a congratulatory card she had been sent that wished them a ‘beautiful marriage full of fun, laughter and growth’

She also had a brief fling with Alex Reid, 45, in 2012, shortly after his split from ex Katie Price – who herself dated Danny in 2011.

FROM DRINK-FUELLED SCANDALS TO BITTER LOVE AFFAIRS: A LOOK BACK AT DANNY’S BAD BOY PAST

2007: Danny dated Cheeky Girl Monica but they split after it was claimed he had cheated on her with glamour model Larissa Summers

2008: Before he pulled on his first England jersey, he was kicked out of the 2008 Six Nations squad for ‘inappropriate behaviour’ after being photographed leaving a nightclub

The rugby star also had a training pitch bust-up with fellow England player Josh Lewsey in which he was left nursing a bloody nose and cut lip

2010: Danny had a short-lived fling with Lindsay Lohan

2011: After moving to Australia he was accused of taking a bottle of vodka from a Melbourne bar and was fined by his club, the Rebels.

The star also briefly dated Katie Price

2013: Danny vowed to have therapy for ‘deep issues’ after it emerged that he betrayed girlfriend Kelly Brook by sending lewd texts to at least seven other women.

2015: Danny was arrested for drunk-driving after the car he was driving was involved in a collision with a taxi at 05:15.

He was convicted after a five-day trial for drunk-driving, ordered to pay a total of £7,620 in fines and costs and banned from driving for 18 months.

Danny was involved in a verbal confrontation with coach Mike Catt at England’s Surrey HQ after being told he would not be in the final World Cup squad

2016: He dated Sky Sports presenter Kirsty Gallagher for six months but ‘broke up because of the 12 year age gap’.

2018: During a pre-season tour in Jersey, Danny was arrested after an incident at a nightclub in St Helier.

He was charged with common assault on a doorman, larceny, assault on a police woman, resisting arrest and being disorderly on licensed premises later that day.

2019: He briefly dated Caroline Flack but the pair remained friends after their split and he was left devastated when she died in 2020

Victoria welcomed her first child when she was 14 with former partner Steve, who tragically died aged 22 in September 1999, leaving the young mum to raise their baby on her own.

Zara Newbold, 31, who’s Victoria’s half-sister, told MailOnline of her sibling’s difficult past, and said her and Danny are lucky to have found each other.

Speaking at her home in Derby last year, Zara said: ‘She was very young when she had her first baby.

‘She and Steve were happy together and I think they would have had a long lasting relationship. But he died in not a very nice accident leaving Vicky with a young baby, which was hard for her.’

She added: ‘We grew up in Derby but Vicky later ventured out, she wanted bigger and better things. She moved to Essex and then London.

‘I hope Danny will provide a good, solid and loving relationship for her. That’s all she wants, not the fame and fortune.

‘She had been single for a while and when she said they were together I wasn’t surprised. She knows a lot of A-listers. And we spoke again after he proposed.

‘I’ve not met Danny yet but looking forward to. We’ve spoken and he sounds very nice, very chilled. She couldn’t have met a better person.’

Danny and Victoria announced their engagement in August last year just two months after going public with their romance.

Danny confirmed the news on Instagram as he wrote: ‘You make me the happiest man in the world.

‘I love waking up with you every morning, not knowing which one of our personalities is going to arise, and how we fall in love with each other over and over again.

‘You make every day so much better, I can’t wait to get home from training every day to see you. I can’t imagine life without you. You make me want to be the best man I possibly can for you and our family.

‘You are my now wife to be. I can’t wait to marry you in October. You’re my lover my best friend, you are so loyal, incredibly intelligent, sexy with so much class. I learn from you all the time.’

He continued: ‘I will never get complacent, you deserve the greatest love every day. We could be doing absolutely nothing for days on end as long as I’m with you.

‘My dream of finding the one I never thought would come true. And it has. I vow to you I’m going to turn up every day. Love and support you for the rest of our lives. Love you @rosierosee_’.

Danny’s turbulent love life has arguably generated more headlines than his sporting career, with the Cheltenham-based hunk seeming to have a type when it comes to his glamorous girlfriends.

The England player was in a public and high-profile relationship with model Kelly Brook between 2008 and 2010.

Sharing the news: The couple announced their engagement in August last year after two months of dating, sharing a sweet snap that Victoria captioned, ‘Mrs Cipriani to be’

‘I can’t wait to marry you in October’: Danny shared this sweet post alongside his happy announcement

Danny then dated actress Lindsay Lohan in 2010, and Katie Price in 2011. His other former flames include Kirsty Gallacher and Caroline, who tragically took her own life in February 2020.

While he may be one of the most well-recognised names in rugby, just 16 appearances in an England shirt bears vivid testimony to the squandering of that genius.

WHO IS DANNY’S NEW WIFE VICTORIA?

Blushing bride: Danny has tied the knot with Victoria Rose O’Callaghan

Victoria, 40, is a mental health campaigner from Derby and is a mum to two kids – Jade Austin, 25, and her teenage son, 15.

She is also a grandmother, as her daughter Jade became a mum five years ago.

Victoria had two long-term relationships before falling for Danny, including with Steven Austin, who is the father of her daughter, and ex-boyfriend Gavin Dunnicliffe.

She also had a brief fling with Alex Reid, 45, in 2012, shortly after his split from ex Katie Price – who also dated Danny.

Since bursting into the limelight, a litany of unedifying episodes in his private life have generated almost as many garish headlines as his brief flashes of brilliance on the rugby field.

There have been a stream of endless self-inflicted PR disasters that Danny, raised by his taxi-driving mother who poured everything into giving her son the best chance in life, specialises in.

The seeds were sown almost from the off. Even before he pulled on his first England jersey, he was kicked out of the 2008 Six Nations squad for ‘inappropriate behaviour’ after being photographed leaving a nightclub.

Four years later, after moving to Australia he was accused of taking a bottle of vodka from a Melbourne bar and was fined by his club, the Rebels.

Months later, Danny vowed to have therapy for ‘deep issues’ after it emerged that he betrayed girlfriend Kelly Brook by sending lewd texts to at least seven other women.

Then in 2015, Danny was arrested for drunk-driving after the car he was driving was involved in a collision with a taxi at 05:15.

He was convicted after a five-day trial for drunk-driving, ordered to pay a total of £7,620 in fines and costs and banned from driving for 18 months.

Another brush with the law came in 2018, during a pre-season tour in Jersey, Danny was arrested after an incident at a nightclub in St Helier.

He was charged with common assault on a doorman, larceny, assault on a police woman, resisting arrest and being disorderly on licensed premises later that day.

Behind all this precocious ability lay another more compelling story of the blood, sweat and toil shed by his mother Anne Cipriani, who raised him single-handed on a housing estate in Putney after his father Jay left to return to his native Trinidad when Danny was a young boy.

She worked long hours to pay for private schooling, often doing double shifts through the night and leaving him with babysitters as she criss-crossed the capital in her cab.

She didn’t take holidays, in order to save money for the £3,000 a year fees at Donhead, a Roman Catholic prep school in Wimbledon which introduced her son to rugby.

Something in common: Victoria also had a brief fling with Alex Reid, 45, in 2012, shortly after his split from ex Katie Price – who herself dated Danny in 2011 (Katie and Alex pictured in 2010)

Following all his hardships, Danny recently looked back over the ‘challenging’ year he faced in 2020, which included the loss of a baby and the death of his ex-girlfriend Caroline Flack.

The rugby ace was left devastated when Love Island host Caroline – who he briefly dated in 2019 before they went on to become friends – took her own life at her north-east London home on February 15 aged 40.

And as he grappled with his ‘intense’ grief in the weeks and months that followed, Danny faced another setback with the heartbreaking news that he and Victoria had lost the baby they were expecting.

Tragic: Danny also dated Caroline Flack briefly in 2019. Months before the loss of his baby, Caroline took her own life in February 2020 aged 40 (Pictured in 2019)

With the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting global lockdowns from March only serving to compound the trauma, the sportsman has admitted he struggled to cope.

‘It was a challenging year,’ he told Sportsmail in January. ‘I was grieving for my friend and we had a week off, so I went to LA, then COVID hit.

‘I couldn’t get back and I was there for three months. It’s obviously a beautiful place to be but I hadn’t been there for three months before and I was going through that (grieving).

‘I think grievance happens in different stages. Mine was very intense. At different times, it comes and goes. There are moments when you remember that person. You have to remember the happy times and I don’t think that ever disappears.’

And while dealing with Caroline’s passing and the unceremonious halting of the rugby season, Danny – who last month stepped back from his playing duties for Gloucester – was hit with further tragic news.

He recalled: ‘During that period, when the season was stopped, we also lost a baby. I think, as the male, I had a delayed on-set of grief about that.

‘You try to pick your partner up and you don’t realise at the time the effect it has on you. We went through that process together and we are really strong now. We’re in a really good position to start trying again and we’re happy about that.’

In October, Danny announced that the couple tragically lost their baby when Victoria was 24 weeks pregnant.

The rugby star said he was excited to become a father and that he and Victoria had named their baby boy River in an emotional Instagram post.

The sportsman wrote: ‘At 24 weeks we lost River, our son. Was and is always going to be difficult, but we supported each other through it and found our love grew and got strong.’

He did not state when their loss happened but instead wrote a positive piece about how the couple had navigated their way through it.

Helping others: In October, Danny announced that he and Victoria had tragically lost their baby when she was 24 weeks pregnant in a bid to help others going through similar experiences

He wrote: ‘It’s been a challenging year, for many different reasons. I’ve had to emotionally overcome and heal in different ways that I haven’t experienced before.

‘In doing so it brought up old trauma and wounds that were unresolved. Then the most beautiful thing happened, I was going to be a father and I fell in love. Deeply in love.

‘For me falling in love was the scariest thing to do hence my behaviour over the years, she is the most magnificent, kind, wise, and beautiful person I’ve ever met,’ he said.

Heartbreaking: The rugby star said he was excited to become a father and that he and Victoria had named their baby boy River in an emotional Instagram post

‘This may seem a sad post, it isn’t. This break now from last season and reflecting is a special place to be.

‘I’m more determined than ever to keep growing learning and loving with my woman.

‘I’m also locked in to represent myself the best I can on the field which to this day I still don’t think I have done… The future is exciting it’s going to take hard work. I’m ready.’

Danny lost his child eight months after Caroline tragically took her own life at her home in Stoke Newington, a day after learning the CPS would be pursuing a case of assault against her following a row with boyfriend Lewis Burton at her home the previous December.

Less than two weeks after Caroline’s shocking death, Danny took to Instagram to share the last messages he had exchanged with the popular TV personality.

In the messages, he revealed that she called him ‘black dot’ and that he spoke to her about ‘working in an industry that doesn’t suit him’ and she spoke about ‘the court case coming up’.

He revealed Caroline called him ‘black dot’ because he had changed his WhatsApp profile to a black dot because he felt he couldn’t trust people in his contacts.

He penned: ‘Black dot. Before I start. This is my grieving process. Which is talking. A lot. Which my friends and family and teammates have had to take this last 10 days because I’m grieving.

‘And I’m grieving hard. Hence I’m talking a lot. I’m not sure I’d be strong enough if I didn’t understand or see myself in her. Pain is pain. It doesn’t matter if you’ve lost a cat. Or been called a name. No ones pain is worse or less.

‘Because it is individual to them and how they take it. So… Black dot. If you judge the first pic you see a black dot. But i didn’t really know what she meant when she called me black dot. Until her best friend told me on Sunday last week.

‘”She used to call you black dot, now i know, your WhatsApp pic is a black dot” – so i changed my WhatsApp pic to a black dot about 5 months ago because i felt there were people who had my number who i couldn’t trust.

‘Ultimately I would have let them into my life. So ultimately I would have to ask myself why. Anyway. This story is about the beauty she found in a situation i found uncomfortable.

‘”I’m just talking to black dot” she would say. She was kind beyond belief. And she would think i am crazy doing all this. But i know she would be proud. I’m taking lent off social media. Thank you all for the kind messages.

‘And all the lovely response. Thank you for the bad response. It’s my story. And i did it for me. Then her – she wasn’t allowed to talk to her BF throughout the case because of the law. He wanted the charges dropped. They wanted to pursue.

Support: Less than two weeks after Caroline’s death, Danny posted these messages on social media as he shared a glimpse into how much he and the late star had supported one another

Pouring his heart out: He penned this post to talk about his feelings and the grieving process

‘I am not pointing fingers. The CPS and police do a good job. Just saying we can’t always do a good job. This is my grieving process.

‘Our greatest strength is our greatest weakness ❤️ ps – I was shown how to disable comments. So I’m going to do so on this post.

‘Because it’s for me and my grieving process. But in a month i will be back on social because that’s 2020 and this is me navigating my way through life.’

Danny’s post was shared days after he bravely took to social media to reveal he once tried to buy a gun to kill himself.

He opened up about his past mental-health struggles in a heartbreaking 18-minute video posted on his Instagram account.

The famous rugby fly-half said that he had been talking with Caroline for the three to four months leading up to her death.

He said that the TV presenter tried to contact him just hours before she tragically took her own life.

Danny said he felt ‘safe’ sharing everything with Caroline, and claimed ‘it was ultimately embarrassment and shame that killed her’.

He was unable to take the call or respond to her message because he was playing for Gloucester against Exeter in the Gallagher Premiership.

In the video, the former England superstar revealed that he went through ‘severe depression’ aged 22, and contemplated committing suicide.

He also spoke of causing himself ‘pain’ with ‘meaningless sex or painkillers or drinking alcohol’.

Danny said: ‘Someone that I loved as a person very dearly and someone I’m very close to has decided to take her own life, as everyone knows.

‘I’ve been speaking to her for the last three, four months. We’ve always been in contact since we were together, since we weren’t. It’s always been a loving friendship.

‘I was so vulnerable with her in my moment, when we first met, and I told her everything about me because I felt safe with her.’

‘I told her all the things I was embarrassed and shameful about. And she made me feel OK. And ultimately it was embarrassment and shame that killed her.

‘So I’m telling everyone now what my most embarrassing and shameful moments are, because I know she knew I had the strength to do this.’

Family bond: Danny had been leaning on Victoria for support as he struggled to come to terms with the tragic death of his ex and the loss of his unborn child

An emotional Danny said: ‘When I was 22, I was going through severe depression. I was seeing a psychiatrist.  I met a guy who was at a nightclub, he ended up being around.

‘I knew he was a bad man, was in the scene, trying to make his way in whatever he was doing. I decided at this point it was time for me to take my own life and I tried to buy a gun from him.

‘And I pulled out. Then I tried to buy it again, but I pulled out. This went on for two months. I couldn’t do it. Because I had some fight in me. That was something that I went through and I’ve had to carry that.’

It is believed the former Wasps player had joined the Melbourne Rebels when he considered buying a gun.
