David Beckham 'sets out to launch his own alcoholic drinks brand'

David Beckham ‘sets out to launch his own drinks brand with spirits and beers as he steps down from being the face of Haig Club Scotch Whisky’

He’s been the face of Haig Club scotch whisky for the last nine years, advertising the alcoholic drink in a slew of promotional campaigns.

But now, David Beckham is reportedly looking to make his own mark on the alcoholic drinks industry by launching a brand of his own.

The former footballer, 47, is allegedly hoping to create spirits such as tequila and whisky with the new brand, alongside beers.

It could be the road to a big payday for the sportsman as he follows in the footsteps of stars such as Ryan Reynolds and Kylie Minogue.

Since 2014, he has been the face of Haig Club, owned by drinks giant Diageo, but is said to have decided not to renew his contract with the brand – which ends in the coming months.

New venture: David Beckham has reportedly set out to launch his own drinks brand with spirits and beers

According to The Times, David is seeking out partners to help him develop the drinks brand.

While the publication also reports that in addition to alcoholic drinks, soft beverages and non-alcoholic beers are being considered.

MailOnline has contacted representatives of David for comment.

He often appears front and centre of Haig Club ad campaigns and doesn’t shy away from events and public appearances to plug the whisky, which he helped launch.

Despite being an ambassador for the brand, David has shared in the past that he isn’t a ‘big drinker’ and often enjoys a healthy lifestyle.

While he has reportedly gained significant profit from endorsing Haig Club, David could be set for new limits if he does go down the road of his own alcohol brand.

Ryan Reynolds became a co-owner of Aviation Gin alongside Davos Brands back in 2018, which led to a massive payout when the brand was sold in 2020 to Diageo – most likely earning the actor upwards of $100 million.

While George Clooney co-founded Casamigos Tequila in 2013, before it was also sold to the drinks giant four years later for $1Billion.

Kylie Minogue is also reported to take in a whopping £9.3million from her highly-successful and self-titled wine brand.

In 2014, David launched his own company DB Ventures – which handles his multiple sporting and fashion endorsements.

With a reported net worth of $450 million (£370 million), he’s thought to bring in a hefty sum each year with brand partnerships and his own ventures.

But last year, he sold 55% the company to Authentic Brands, the owner of Juicy Couture, for around £200 million.

At the time, it was reported that the deal would help him to crack into the US with his financial ventures.
