Washington recently spent an extended period of time in Italy while filming the third installment in the Equalizer film franchise, which was released in theaters earlier this month.
The movies were based on the television series of the same name, which originally ran from 1985 until 1989.
The actor took over the role of Robert McCall for the first Equalizer movie, which was released in 2014, and he reprised his role as the vigilante for the film’s sequel in 2018
It was confirmed that Washington, as well as the past two films’ director, Antoine Fuqua, would return for a third feature in January of last year.
The project’s crew shot the new feature in various Italian locations, including Naples, Rome and the Amalfi Coast, before filming concluded this past January.
The Equalizer 3 premiered on September 1, and it has since grossed nearly $135 million from viewers, according to Box Office Mojo.

Fuqua recently spoke to Collider and shared his view on why audiences identified with Washington’s character.
‘I think they’re connecting to him because he’s a common man. There’s nothing fancy about him or anything. He seems like somebody you sit down and have a tea with or a friend of yours. He just happens to be a brutal destroyer,’ he said.
The filmmaker also spoke about how he, as well as the actor, strove to strike a balance with the usage of violence in their new film.
He stated: ‘The younger audience sometimes wants a little more, and then there’s a little more mature audience of Denzel fans, as well…even like my age where I got children now, where you go, “Okay, I’m good. That’s enough. I’m satisfied.”‘
