The married pair were childhood sweethearts, having grown up together in the same town.

They rekindled their romance in 2014 and tied the knot in a small ceremony five years later.

‘Me and Cherry’s actual wedding was a tiny affair, with hardly anyone there,’ Ed revealed to fellow musician Jessie Ware on her Table Manners podcast.

‘We did it at night, at a random day in the middle of January, in the middle of nowhere,’ the Sing hitmaker added.

‘No one knew, no one came to it, we lit candles and we got married, went back and had a curry.’

They then welcomed their first child together, a daughter called Lyra Antarctica, in September 2020.

Last year, Ed said he plans on quitting major tours after this one, so he can spend more time with Cherry and Lyra.

He said: ‘I would hate to get to 20 years’ time and have a relationship with my kids that had suffered because I’d chosen work over them,.

‘I think the pattern I see a lot in my sphere, is if I could go back it would be this: “I would not miss this birthday and I would not go, yes I’ll play another stadium.”‘

He added: ‘I think it’s about finding the balance with that – and I honestly think that this next tour that I’m going on, at the end of the tour, I can’t see myself going on one of them like that again.’

Speaking on the Open house Party podcast in June, Ed revealed he would be ‘super grateful’ to add more members to his family.

The West Yorkshire-born star said: ‘I would obviously be super grateful to be able to have any more kids, but I think girls are far superior to boys. As a boy myself, I feel like I can say this.

‘I feel like we were so lucky to be able to have one that I think I would obviously love more. But I think we’re so lucky to just have one. So if nothing else happens, I’m so happy, basically.’
