Amanda Holden has been criticised by many for her recent breach of strict nationwide lockdown rules. The Britain’s Got Talent judge was reported to the police following her trip from her home in Richmond upon Thames, Surrey to Cornwall.
However, Emily Andrea, 29, has spoken out in defence of the star in her latest column in OK! magazine.
She said: “Lots of people have criticised Amanda Holden for what has been reported as breaking lockdown rules by travelling to her parents’ home in Cornwall. But I feel there may be more to the story.”
Emily continues: “She has elderly parents and said she received a distressing call from them, so if she felt it was an emergency she was only doing the right thing for herself and her family. We don’t know all the details, so it’s difficult to say if she did break the rules.”

Amanda was reportedly “devastated” that she had to do what she did. Her representative assured The Mirror that Amanda takes the covid rules very seriously.
He went on to say: "Amanda is aware that all families are going through difficulty during these turbulent times but received a distressing telephone call from her elderly father on Friday afternoon.”
Writing in her weekly column for OK! magazine, Emily said: “I feel very differently about that compared to people who are having large gatherings or not sticking to the travel regulations. Sometimes your particular situation doesn’t quite match what the rules say and it’s difficult to apply them to your circumstances. We just have to try to follow them the best we can.”

Amanda, 49, travelled over 200 miles in response to a distressing phone call she received from her step-father, Leslie, 75.
Her representative added: "On balance Amanda felt the round-trip to Cornwall was necessary to contain the matter at her family home.
"The very personal situation has now been aided and Amanda is back in London. Amanda did not act on a whim and has adhered to covid rules every step of the way in all three lockdowns.
"Amanda is aware of the travel rules and is devastated she had to break them on this one occasion.”

Emily went on in her column to address the government’s plans to reopen schools by in early spring.
“It’s brilliant news that the Government seems optimistic about schools reopening on 8 March if cases continue to drop,” she said. “I’m sure lots of parents will be breathing a sigh of relief,” Emily added.
“I think it’s a very polarising situation. I do think it’s right to open schools as soon as possible, though, and make them a priority – as long as we do it in a sensible way with safety measures in place.”
Emily is mother to two children she shares with her husband Peter Andre – Amelia, five, and Theodore, two.
