EXCLUSIVE: Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk are near completion on massive eco-friendly Montecito mansion complete with 60 solar panels… where A-list neighbors include Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Oprah Winfrey

  • New aerial images taken over the weekend of the property show that construction is nearly done as a few of the upgrades include new trees that have been planted and 60 solar panels
  • When they purchased the home for a near $5million price tag in 2016, it was reported they needed to extensive work, which already boasted four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a large pool and more than two acres of land
  • It certainly seems like the 48-year-old Oscar winning actress and 50-year-old television writer have already made massive progress on that front as they even reportedly paid a visit to check on the progress on Friday
  • Paltrow bought the property for only $4.9million back in 2016 as it since has become the go-to neighborhood of choice for top-tier celebrities to seek solace away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles

  • No doubt the overhaul has been an interesting experience for Paltrow’s neighbors as she had stirred up controversy with her neighbors in 2016 she bought two neighboring estates in the district and was cleared for plans to build a new mansion across both sites
  • There are some additional downsides to living in the private area as back in January 2018 mudslides wrecked the grounds of Paltrow’s home as they also left 17 dead, 8 missing and hundreds trapped inside their homes

Paving stones have also recently been installed which lead to what appears to be a garage.

The two certainly are in the process of building their own oasis as there seems to be an Olympic size swimming pool.

Two stairways leading to the body of water have been finished along with a retaining wall around the main home.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, Oprah Winfrey, and Ellen DeGeneres are just a few of the A-listers who live in the celebrity-favorite enclave.

The royal couple moved into their sprawling nine-bedroom and 16-bathroom mansion in upscale Montecito for $14.65million in June last year.

Meghan and Harry’s home sits on 5.4 acres of land and immaculately clipped hedges border the estate’s stone-pillared entry gates.

Property listings say the home took nearly five years to build and included a library, office, spa with a separate dry and wet sauna, a gym with a stripper pole, game room, arcade, theater, wine cellar and five-car garage.

The entrance to the property opens onto a wide lane paved with hand-cut Santa Barbara Stone that leads through a grand archway of trees to the main residence, according to Zillow.

The estate has sweeping lawns, tiered rose gardens, tall Italian cypress trees, blooming lavender, century old olive trees, a tennis court, tea house, children’s cottage and a pool.

It also boasts a two-bedroom, two-bath guest house, perfect for Meghan’s mother Doria, who is acting as one-year-old Archie’s nanny. Doria has already been to the house, TMZ reports.

The home’s seller is thought to be Russian tycoon Sergey Grishin who bought the ‘palatial’ mansion for more than $25million in 2009 and had tried to sell the home for up to $34million before eventually accepting a loss.

Grishin is also the former owner of a different California estate – known as the Scarface mansion because it appeared in the 1983 Al Pacino movie – which sold for a similarly cut-price $12million in 2015.

Lavish life: It is definitely a stunning property

Surrounded by lush green gardens and overlooking the sea, the home has been described as a ‘hidden paradise’.

One estate agent who spent an hour inside said it was ‘designed for someone who never wants to leave home’.

Brett Buschbom said: ‘I went through this house and an hour later I’m coming out like “wow”, the whole bottom floor felt like a resort with steam room, massage room, sauna, Jacuzzi, full bar, arcade and one of the most amazing wine cellars and that was just the basement.’

No doubt the overhaul has been an interesting experience for Paltrow’s neighbors as she had stirred up controversy with her neighbors in 2016 she bought two neighboring estates in the district and was cleared for plans to build a new mansion across both sites.

Power couple: The two stars seen in a selfie from earlier this year

Speaking to Page Six at the time, one of her neighbors insisted the new home is ‘too big, too tall and incompatible with the adjacent houses, and it blocks their views’.

Gwyneth, who also owns homes in New York and London, had left neighbors enraged after plans for the home were cleared despite claims the home is still ‘too tall’ – after the star claimed to have lowered the home by eight feet.

Andrew Rice, a spokesman for one neighbor, Michael MacElhenny, told Page Six: ‘She’s created an uproar with neighbors on all three sides. Michael and the other neighbors have tried to work with her, and they’ve gotten nowhere’.

The representative was insistent at the time that the star had only lowered the home by one foot and he claimed the project had been given the go-ahead based on false information.

The couple reportedly purchased the Palladian-style house from controversial Nigerian Businessman Kola Aluko after his bank accounts were seized due to his nefarious business practices.

There are some additional downsides to living in the private area as back in January 2018 mudslides wrecked the grounds of Paltrow’s home as they also left 17 dead, 8 missing and hundreds trapped inside their homes.

The property had boasted  ‘Monet-like gardens’ and stunning water features.

Gwyneth has two children, her lookalike daughter Apple, 16, and her son Moses, 14.

She shares the teens with her ex-husband Chris Martin, whom she was married to from 2003 until announcing their ‘conscious uncoupling in 2014.

The two artists have remained friends and committed coparents, even as the Coldplay frontman has gone on to have a longterm relationship with actress Dakota Johnson.

The year of her separation, Gwyneth began dating Brad, a writer and television producer known for working with Ryan Murphy on Glee and the American Horror Story series.

The two married in July 2018.

Before Gwyneth and Brad, the latest celebrities to move into Montecito were Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and his model wife, Behati Prinsloo.

The 41-year-old crooner and Vogue star star Behati, 32, snatched up the historic estate for $22.7M and the 9-bedroom 11-bathroom home sits on 5.2 acres.

The estate was built in 1923 by famed architect George Washington Smith who originally designed the property for an attorney with early ties to the town by the name of John A Jameson.

The compound boasts four different structures in total: the 12,000 sq ft main home, a two bedroom guesthouse, a detached five-car garage with staff quarters, and a ‘garden cottage’ with additional sleeping space.

The main house’s design is a Mediterranean-inspired villa with rustic charm, including wood paneled ceilings and a farm-style chef’s kitchen with stainless steel appliances.

The compound sits at the top of a long driveway that is shaded with oak trees, giving visitors a glimpse at the grounds’ manicured lawns.

Levine’s house is cozy yet lavish and has an indoor-outdoor style of living, that is great for entertaining post-pandemic.

The property also has a tennis court, a movie theatre, a wine cellar, a putting green and a luxurious pool.
