Good Morning Britain’s Ed Balls is forced to apologise after swearing live on air… despite Susanna Reid warning him NOT to say the explicit word

Ed Balls was forced to apologise during Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain after swearing live on air.

The former Labour MP, 56, left his co-host Susanna Reid looking very alarmed after he said an explicit word during a chat about Danny Dyer.

The awkward moment came as they recalled when EastEnders star, 45, had appeared on the ITV chat show and used a rude word to describe David Cameron.

Ed told how he was in the studio when Danny had used the ‘T-word’ when he was on the show in June 2018, when Susanna and Piers Morgan were hosting.

Recalling the swear word Danny had used, Ed asked Susanna: ‘Are we allowed to say that this early?’

To which Susanna quickly fired back with: ‘No we can’t! It’s on the Ofcom list.’

But feigning ignorance, Ed then replied: ‘So you can’t say t**t then? Just checking!’

Susanna appeared wide-eyed and very alarmed at his remark, before reminding her co-host: ‘You do know we are on air don’t you?’

Entertainment reporter Richard Arnold then joked: ‘You can say trotters, though.’

To which Susanna said: ‘He talked about David Cameron, who called the Brexit referendum being out with his trotters up. That’s the T-word you mentioned.’

Ed was then forced to apologise for his comment, saying: ‘I apologise. I didn’t mean to say that. Apparently I shouldn’t have said that. I am sorry I didn’t know.’

It comes after Susanna was left in hysterics following Hugh Grant’s incredibly awkward Oscars interview on Sunday.

Amused: It comes after Susanna was left in hysterics following Hugh Grant ‘s incredibly awkward Oscars interview on Sunday

The actor, 62, went viral when he shut down Ashley Graham and rolled his eyes at her in a red carpet chat which was later branded ‘the worst interview ever’.

Speaking on Monday’s GMB Susanna, 52, said the actor was ‘famous for being short with his words’ after the show aired a clip of the awkward incident.

She told co-host Ed Balls: ‘I’ve been there on the red carpet and the problem of course is if you are the reporter, it’s knowing exactly who’s coming towards you.

‘It’s also a problem if the person you interview doesn’t particularly want to give you an interview.

‘Spare a thought for ABC’s Ashley Graham. She saw Hugh Grant, who is famous for sometimes being a little bit short with his words.’

The Four Weddings and a Funeral star kept his answers to her questions as short as possible and made his blatant disinterest well known in the uncomfortable clip.

Kicking off the chat, bubbly Ashley exclaimed: ‘What was it like to be in Glass Onion? How fun is it to shoot something like that?’

But she was met with a cringeworthy response: ‘Well I’m barely in it, I was in it for about three seconds,’ Hugh quipped.

Oh dear! The actor, 62, went viral when he shut down Ashley Graham and rolled his eyes at her in a red carpet chat which was later branded ‘the worst interview ever’

‘It still must have been fun though, you had fun right?’ Ashley said as she powered through the one-sided chat.

‘Erm… almost,’ the actor replied as he looked away.

Grinning and bearing the interview, the model asked: ‘What are you wearing?’ While Hugh offered an insightful: ‘My suit.’

Viewers at home were left feeling rather embarrassed over the exchange, as they praise Ashley for how she handled the difficult situation and said the moment was ‘the worst’ since Will Smith’s infamous slap of Chris Rock at the 2022 ceremony.
