The 23-year-old star was joined by her supportive big sister Chloe, 24, who looked gorgeous in a sultry yellow gown that hugged her curves and flashed her cleavage with a sexy crystal cutout.

The two siblings reigned supreme on the red carpet as the history-making live-action remake prepares to make a gigantic splash at the box office.

Halle was joined by her A-list costars at the premiere, as Melissa McCarthy, 52, looked like an undersea queen in her regal blue dress with fringed embellishments and puffed sleeves.

Javier Bardem, 54, was classically handsome in his tailored suit. The Oscar winner plays Ariel’s father King Triton opposite McCarthy, who plays the villainous Ursula.

The event was a popular occasion for attendees to bring along their children, as the film will no doubt be a major draw for families when it premieres in theaters on May 26.

In a cover story for Ebony, Halle revealed that playing Ariel, ‘…is all a part of God’s plan for me.’

Halle has been a star since she was a teenager. She’s also one half of the R&B singing group Chloe x Halle with her sister Chloe Bailey.

Landing the role of Ariel allowed her to spread her wings and explore her individuality.

‘It was the first thing I did by myself, independently,’ Halle revealed to the outlet. ‘I had to move across the world. Suddenly I was in London, and I was by myself. It really forced me to grow up.’

‘The whole filming experience was insane. It was the most intense, excruciatingly beautiful experience of my life. I mean, physically, mentally—all of the above,’ the actress admitted.

The Little Mermaid is expected to make a big splash when it debuts in theaters over the Memorial Day weekend.

Current projections show the live-action remake of the 1989 animated classic pulling in $110 million over its four day opening weekend, according to Deadline.

If the much-anticipated film pulls in that box office, it will be the eighth biggest Memorial Day debut. The biggest is currently last year’s Top Gun: Maverick which brought in $160.5 million over the four day scoring period.

Speaking to Edition magazine, Halle recounted the pressure cooker of the film’s production, saying: ‘I pushed myself as far as I’ve ever pushed myself in life. And I feel like the message from her was to know that you’ve always had it in you.’

She added: ‘I’m really excited for my version of the film because we’ve definitely changed that perspective of just her wanting to leave the ocean for a boy.

‘It’s way bigger than that. It’s about herself, her purpose, her freedom, her life and what she wants.’

The up-and-coming superstar delivered a message of female empowerment: ‘As women we are amazing, we are independent, we are modern, we are everything and above. And I’m glad that Disney is updating some of those themes.’

‘It was truly such an honor to play one of Disney’s most delicious and iconic villains,’ she said, according to THR. ‘Ursula is dishy, she’s a conniving broad. Maybe that’s why I relate, I don’t know. But you can’t help but love her at the same time.’

Speaking with People, Melissa revealed she became a fan of the film while nannying for a family in her early 20s.

‘The girls could watch a little bit of TV and pick a movie. And I swear there was a two-year jag where we watched Little Mermaid every night,’ she told the magazine.

‘Even if they did want a different one, I was like, “Or we could just watch The Little Mermaid again.”‘

Melissa also revealed she ‘begged’ director Rob Marshall for the part: ‘I threw myself in front of [his] car and begged him. I didn’t really, but I did beg him to talk to me. That part’s true.’

‘I’ve spent more time with Little Mermaid than probably any other movie, which I didn’t really think about until Rob’s like, ‘Did you see this a few times?’ I’m like, ‘Well, [now that] you ask me, I’ve seen it a weird amount of times. Which could have frightened him. Luckily it didn’t.’

Melissa called landing the role a ‘crazy fever dream’ while appearing on Good Morning America last month. ‘I have just an absolute love for the movie and for Ursula,’ she declared.

Director Rob Marshall echoed a similar sentiment as he stated: ‘Halle Bailey, when she sang for us, it was so emotional. She set the bar and no one ever surpassed it.’

Miranda, best known for creating the Broadway musicals In the Heights and Hamilton, said he feels ‘really proud to’ have worked on ‘The Little Mermaid because these characters live in’ his heart.
