Harry Connick Jr gets roasted on social media for wearing bald cap as Daddy Warbucks on Annie Live!

Harry Connick Jr. was roasted on social media on Thursday for wearing a bald cap to play Daddy Warbucks on Annie Live! on NBC.

The 54-year-old singer was called out for his appearance while playing the rich industrialist during the three-hour live production.

A post on Twitter said that Harry’s bald cap was the ‘true villain of Annie’.

Another Twitter user posted about being ‘haunted by the creases at the top back of Harry Connick Jr.’s neck due to the bald cap’.

Another Twitter user posted that they should have just skipped the bald cap.

One post on Twitter looked on the bright side and read, ‘Maybe her parents are under his bald cap’.

The reaction on social media was otherwise mostly positive with 12-year-old Celina Smith singled out for her performance in the title role.

‘Who is this amazing child with this amazing vocal range because she is KILLIN IT,’ read one post with a photo of Celina as Annie. 

Taraji P. Henson, 51, who played Miss Hannigan, and Nicole Scherzinger, 43, who portrayed Grace Farrell also were praised on social media for their outstanding work.

‘Now I did not know Taraji could sing like this,’ read one Twitter post along with an incredulous meme.  

The Masked Singer panelist Nicole also got some serious praise.

Harry did get some positive feedback for making a sly reference to Broadway rebounding.

‘I’m glad to see Broadway getting back on its feet in spite of the hard times,’ said Warbucks, who spoke in reference to the Great Depression but earned an applause from the audience at Gold Coast Studios in Bethpage, New York, as his line resonated in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The line was accompanied on Twitter with the famous Emma Stone crying image.

Positive feedback: Harry did get some positive feedback for making a sly reference to Broadway rebounding

Whole family: The show proved to be a hit for the whole family, including a dog who watched a scene with Sandy
