Hilaria Baldwin Reflects on ‘Challenging Year’ Following Heritage Scandal and Alec’s ‘Rust’ Shooting

The 37-year-old yoga instructor, who shares six children with her actor husband Alec, faced backlash earlier this year after she was accused of faking her Spanish accent.

AceShowbiz -It’s been a “challenging year” for Hilaria Baldwin. On Thanksgiving’s Day, the wife of Alec Baldwin reflected on how she overcame struggles that happened in 2021, including her heritage controversy and her husband’s accidental shooting on the set of “Rust“.

On Thursday, November 25, the 37-year-old yoga instructor shared on Instagram a video of her kids “Carmen and Marilu dancing in the supermarket.” In the caption, she wrote, “I want to tell you all how grateful I am for you. This has been one of a challenging year. I know for many, many of us…but I will only speak from personal experience right now.”

“Sometimes I didn’t think I was gonna make it through. I want you to know how much you have helped me through some pretty dark struggles. Knowing you were there-such comfort. Yes, my children and my husband, my family and close friends have been invaluable,” she added. “but YOU, I don’t get to express this face to face, due to the nature of social media and how far we all are…I SO want you to know and take in how grateful I am every day for you.”

“I miss our chats and the safety net of our community,” the mother of six further noted. “I’m hoping, one day, we will get back there. One thing struggle has taught me is to say ‘I love you more’. It’s what all of this is all about, in my opinion. So, I love you so…with my whole, grateful soul. Happy gratitude day.”

In late December 2020, Hilaria was accused of faking her Spanish accent, prompting her to receive backlash and even get fired from a brand ambassador. Months later, the Boston native issued an apology for not being more clear about her cultural background.

Fast forward in October, her husband Alec accidentally fired a prop gun while filming “Rust” at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Director of photography Halyna Hutchins died from the ordeal while movie director Joel Souza was injured. Alec is now being sued over the deadly gun incident.
