‘You’re going to be a household name’: Holly Willoughby reveals that she always knew she was destined for TV thanks to a childhood psychic

She’s known for her role on ITV’s This Morning.

And Holly Willoughby, 40, revealed that she has always known that she was destined to be a household name thanks to a conversation with a psychic when she was a child. 

The presenter detailed the moment that she was given the eerie prediction by a fortune teller on a Sussex pier.

Speaking in her By The Light of the Moon podcast with special guest Michael McIntyre, 45, the pair spoke about their experiences with psychics.

Holly began: ‘When I was younger I remember going to, I think it was either Eastbourne Pier or Brighton Pier, I can’t remember. There was a psychic lady at the end. My mum took me and my sister to go.  

‘She said to me: “You’re going to be a household name.” Blah blah blah blah blah’.

Holly added: ‘We just fobbed her off thinking she probably literally says this to absolutely every little kid who walks in because it’s just a nice thing to say. Weird though, eh?’

Michael detailed a similar experience where, when pregnant with him, his mother was told that her unborn son was destined for great things.  

He said on finding out: ‘I think having that information when I was young…it gave me a little bit of an inner glow and a bit of confidence to go, “Yeah I am.”‘  

‘It made me feel quite good about myself. Like I had a secret that great things were going to happen.

‘Maybe it helped fulfil that a bit rather than the fact she was actually a psychic.’ 

Eerie: Speaking in her By The Light of the Moon podcast with special guest Michael McIntyre, 45, the pair spoke about their experiences with psychics 

He added: ‘I have to say it’s a great bit of advice for parents, telling me that, whether that was true or not, obviously there are people more susceptible to believing things…I imagine you’re quite into that stuff, which I think is a lovely way to be and, of course, it might be all true, who knows?’

The comedian the joked: ‘But I think if it was [she’d have gone on to bigger and better things. You’d definitely have had her on This Morning. Maybe she didn’t get a lot of things right.’

Holly who began her career as a model before moving on to present Dancing On Ice alongside Philip Schofield in 2006. 

She then went on to host various shows before landing her current slot on This Morning in 2009, when she stepped up to replaces Fern Britton.
