Greetings: Olivia Attwood looked puzzled during the opening episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! on Sunday night as she greeted a thin-looking Chris Moyles

As Olivia was greeted by Chris, she told him: ‘You look different.’

Chris, who described himself on the show as previously being ‘morbidly obese’ said: ‘I used to be really fat.’

Olivia replied: ‘You look great.’

Arrival: Broadcaster Chris was the first star to appear on the new series of the ITV reality how this weekend as it made its return to Australia for the first time in three years

Reality star Olivia was voted by the public as their VIP during Sunday’s episode.

However, rather than meaning very important person, VIP in this cast stood for very isolated person, with the show’s VIPs later finding themselves being tasked with camping out together on a deserted island.

Before they travelled to the sand island, Olivia chose Chris as her VIP, meaning he was able to stay behind with her at a luxury villa and enjoy a lavish meal rather than having to take part in the terrifying Walk The Plank task with his fellow contestants.

New man: The radio DJ, 48, has lost a total of six stone, dropping from 18 stone to 12, and former Love Island star Olivia, 31, was surprised by his changed appearance

New friend: She was able to choose one of her fellow contestants to join her for a VIP meal at the villa, with Olivia choosing radio DJ Chris

Looking at the food, Chris seemed unsure before tucking in, saying: ‘To be honest, I’m not even sure what everything is.’

Olivia told him: ‘It’s not really your thing, is it.’

Pointing at the fruit, Chris declared: ‘I don’t know what that is,’ to which Olivia replied: ‘It’s a mango.’

Tough choice: Babatunde was unable to complete the ‘Walk The Plank’ task, shouting ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ amd returning to the roof of the 32-storey building

Chris cheerfully said: ‘I know what a strawberry is!’, to which Olivia sarcastically replied: ‘Well done you!’

Laughing, Chris hit back: ‘Olivia, I used to be morbidly obese. I’m not used to eating fruit!’

Unable to contain herself, Olivia chimed in: ‘Sorry, darling. Shall we see if someone can deep fry it for you?’

The comedian was unable to walk to the end and called ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ and walked backwards to the roof of the building to return to safety

Liking the sound of the idea, Chris agreed, saying: ‘And bring it back with chips.’

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! put this year’s contestants straight to the test as they faced nerve-wracking heights and creepy critters.

The launch episode on Sunday night saw a new batch of 10 celebrities enter the Australian jungle for the first time since 2019, as the past two years were shot at Gwrych Castle in North Wales due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

Among them were pop star Boy George and Love Island star Olivia, who were revealed as the public’s vote to become Jungle VIPs, but this was not as luxurious as it first appeared as they later discovered this meant ‘Very Isolated People’.

High octane: After enjoying their lavish meal together at the villa, Olivia and Chris were seen making their way to the helicopter to complete a skydive

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly also confirmed there will be two extra arrivals to the camp and poked fun at former health secretary Matt Hancock, expected to be one of them.

Dec joked that they had managed to keep the identities a complete secret’, adding: ‘You are going to be surprised, guys. We are going to be rolling out the welcome mat for them soon’, stressing the word ‘mat’.

Kicking off the series in style, Olivia, Chris, Loose Women star Charlene White, comedian Babatunde Aleshe and former England footballer Jill Scott arrived by a luxury car at a waterside villa on the Gold Coast.

After the arrival of Ant and Dec, the duo revealed Olivia has been voted as a Jungle VIP and she was allowed to choose one person to join her for a meal – she picked Chris.

Mid air: Olivia was seen attached to a professional skydiver while the helicopter was seen hovering above them in the air

The reality TV star said: ‘I am equal parts flattered and unnerved the public voted for me to be a VIP…  I’man guessing they know more of what that entails than I do.’

The three remaining campmates of Jill, Charlene and Babatunde were whisked off by a helicopter to the Focus building in Surfers Paradise, Queensland, to take on the show’s new version of the infamous plank.

Ant explained that the contestants would have to walk to the edge of the plank 334ft in the air and once all are in position, they must take a step forward onto a ledge so they are leaning forward and they must use a rope to stop them from falling.

They would then have to hold the position for a minute and then release their supporting rope which will send them plunging from the ledge in order to each win a coveted star, each one equating to one meal.

Action packed: Chris was seen falling through the air after Olivia had jumped out the helicopter while she waited for him on the ground

Charlene was up first and steadily walked to the end of the plank and waited for Babatunde to join her who was urging himself on to ‘just go’.

However, he became the first to say ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ and backed out.

Charlene was finally joined by Jill, who later admitted she was ‘really scared of heights’, and they completed the 60 seconds before both let go of the rope to complete the task and therefore earning two stars for camp.

Speaking about why he chose to forfeit his go and star, Babatunde said: ‘I said I was determined to be here. I wasn’t determined to be there (pointing to the plank).’

Elsewhere, after Olivia and Chris enjoyed their meal they got a taste of the high life as they were tasked with jumping out of a chopper at 10,000ft.

VIPs: Boy George and Scarlette finished their meal and they were then tasked with rowing to meet Chris and Olivia on their remote desert island

After completing the jump first, an emotional Olivia said: ‘Oh my God I’m crying, that’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever done, ever. That is incredible. Top 10 experience of my life. Just amazing.’

Joining her on the beach, Chris, who is not a fan of heights, added: “I’m so happy to be on the ground. Seriously, I’ll eat a sheep’s anus any day rather than do that again.’

Meanwhile, arriving one-by-one by boat to a marina was Boy George, rugby player Mike Tindall, Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver, TV presenter and property expert Scarlette Douglas and Hollyoaks’ Owen Warner.

As Ant and Dec showed up on boat, they announced that Boy George was the second Jungle VIP voted in and he chose Scarlette to join him for a meal for two on a yacht.

The presenting duo also poked fun at Boy Gorge when introducing his arrival, dancing to Do You Really Want To Hurt Me by his band Culture Club, before telling viewers their answer to the question in the song title was ‘yes’.

The remaining campmates – Mike, Sue and Owen – were helicoptered into the jungle and put to the test on the ‘Critter Cruise’ where they had to each try and secure a star from a boat’s mast by completing a challenge.

On air: I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! continues on ITV1 on Monday at 9pm

Among the obstacles to unlocking the stars was a code which Mike had to break and a ‘hell hole’ of critters where Sue had to search for fish eyes.

Meanwhile, Owen had to get into a pip and search through bugs and grime to find hex keys to unlock a grate. This secured all three stars to take back to camp.

The Jungle VIPs finally united with one another after Boy George and Scarlette had to row their way off the yacht on a dinghy to join Olivia and Chris on an island.

The group then discovered they were actually ‘Very Isolated People’ and would spend tonight marooned on the island together and tomorrow they would take on the first trial of the series before they could join their fellow celebrities in camp.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns on Monday at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
