Charlene admitted: ‘I would say that my first night’s sleep in the jungle wasn’t great. I’m not used to sleeping outdoors, it’s a new environment.
‘I think I was over emotional, I was missing the kids, it just got released through tears really and I just couldn’t stop crying.’
It comes after Charlene said it was a ‘foregone conclusion’ she’ll cry on the show as she struggles to cope with the jungle living conditions.

Prior to the debut episode, according to The Sun, she said: ‘I will definitely get teary. It’s a foregone conclusion.
‘I am going to miss our daily routine with the kids, I am going to miss waking up with them and having quiet time before the school run and that’s what is going to get me tearing up. It will be weird.’
The ITV newsreader said she and her partner Andy came to the decision for her to appear on the show together but he is surprised she went ahead with it.

Upset: She opened up admitting: ‘I would say that my first night’s sleep in the jungle wasn’t great. I think I was over emotional, I was missing the kids, it just got released through tears really and I just couldn’t stop crying’
She explained: ‘We made the decision together but he was like, “I have no idea how you are going to cope!” I am not a “need to wear make-up, nails” kind of girl but I am not very outdoorsy.
‘In fact, I know the fact I am volunteering to choose to sleep outside will come as a massive shock to everyone at work, too!’
Meanwhile, Charlene said she ‘applauds’ anyone that will strip off for the famous jungle shower – but admits she won’t be one of them.
The broadcaster confirmed to MailOnline she will cover up as she bathes in the Australian jungle to avoid showing the entire country her body.
And she insists her decision isn’t because she’s insecure about her appearance, but she would rather remain discrete and wash without exposing her figure.
Speaking from New South Wales, Charlene said: ‘I think what is wonderful about a show like this is that it demonstrates real life and real scenarios and real insecurities and there will be those who are really secure within their bodies and really happy stripping off and I will applaud that until the cows come home – it is brilliant.
‘But there will always be those who are also very tentative about doing that. I would probably come under that umbrella to be honest.
‘It is not that I am necessarily insecure about my body… I also don’t want to show the entire country my body.
‘But I think there is room for everybody, and I don’t think anybody should be judged as to whether they want to show everything off or they would rather shower with a swimsuit on.’
