Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher ‘permanently relocate’ to her home city of Perth to escape Sydney’s Covid lockdown

They have spent almost a year living in Sydney, but now Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen are rumoured to be relocating to Perth – the city where the actress was raised.

The Wedding Crashers star, 45, and her British comedian husband, 49, recently entered the WA capital with their three children, reports The Age.

The family has already completed two weeks of quarantine and their relocation is said to be ‘permanent’.

While the Hollywood power couple are yet to comment on the move, they reportedly wanted to ‘escape’ the Covid lockdown in NSW.

It comes amid rumours Baron Cohen is set to perform at the AFL Grand Final in Perth later this month in character as late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.

The gossip started when a listener told Triple M’s Breakfast with Basil, Xav and Jenna on Monday they’d heard the news from a reliable source in the footy world.

‘Who is in Perth right now? Sacha,’ the caller said, noting how Baron Cohen and his family had travelled from Sydney to Western Australia last month.

‘Sacha has been given the heads-up to do the song,’ they added.

‘Sacha Baron Cohen is going to sing [We Are the Champions] on Grand Final day?’ one of the hosts asked, which prompted another to say: ‘He’d be very good!’

He was set to star as Mercury in the 2018 Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, directed by Bryan Singer.

But he quit over ‘creative differences’ with the band and was replaced by Rami Malek, who won a Best Actor Oscar for the role.

Fisher, 45, told Stellar magazine in March she felt ‘safe’ in her home country after moving back to Australia with her family.

‘I just feel so safe, I suppose the word is cosy, when I’m in Australia. It’s where I grew up,’ said the Oman-born actress.

‘I’m the happiest when I’m home. I miss it when I’m not here. I don’t feel any pressure when I’m in Australia. I don’t have to say or do or be anything. I mean, I don’t even have to wear shoes.’

Isla and Sacha first met at a party in Sydney in 2002, and married in Paris in 2010 after she converted to the Jewish faith.

They moved from Los Angeles to Australia at the end of last year, reportedly to escape ‘Trump’s America’.
