James Jordan hits out at ‘overly harsh’ John Barrowman over Dancing On Ice remarks

Dancing on Ice: John criticises Lady Leshurr’s performance

James Jordan has said he thought Dancing On Ice judge John Barrowman was “overly harsh” on 2021 contestant Lady Leshurr in the latest instalment. The former champion, who won the competition in 2019, made his comments following a very eventful evening at home with his wife Ola Jordan and 11-month-old daughter Ella.

”As much as I love John Barrowman, I think he was overly harsh on her [Lady Leshurr],” James told Hello! magazine.

“I thought she was much better than the judges made out,” he added.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star, who took part in the 11th series, pointed out that the women in the competition don’t normally skate on their own as much as the men, but praised the 32-year-old rapper for performing solo.

“She was the only woman who tried to skate on her own so I’m glad that she was saved,” the father-of-one went on to explain.

In the latest instalment of the ice-skating show, Lady Leshurr took to the ice with her professional partner Brendyn Hadfield.

For musicals week, the pair skated to If My Friends Could See Me Now from Sweet Charity.

They received a combined score of 24.5 points from the judges for their performance.

However, the 53 -year-old judge said the routine was full of stumbles and little errors.

“You are so charismatic and fun to watch but from the moment you got off the chaise lounge you stumbled. And that moment set you off and there was stumbling throughout,” he said.

“Like Gwen Verdon who sang that song, she was never perfect vocally.

“If you’re not perfect skating, I wanted you to be more character in it, but it just wasn’t there.”

Lady Leshurr, real name Melesha O’Garro, appeared visibly upset by the remarks.

While watching the show at home, James’ daughter managed to steal the spotlight by taking her very first steps.

The dancer and his wife Ola, also a former Strictly pro, watched with pride as their only child made her way across the living room.

“So tonight during @dancingonice we suddenly saw our baby Ella walking on her own… 11 months and four days,” the proud father told his 230,000 Instagram followers after the momentous occasion.

“I can’t believe how excited she was!” he added.

“She didn’t want to go to bed from all the excitement,” the 42-year-old revealed.

“What a lovely evening @olajordan,” he added.

The couple, who tied the knot back in 2003, both shared videos of Ella walking towards her mother, who was beaming from ear-to-ear.

“My baby is walking!!!” Ola wrote online.
