Jennifer Grey has revealed her ex fiancé Johnny Depp’s defamation trial with Amber Heard ‘breaks her heart’ and ‘wishes’ that it was resolved.

The actress, 62, who was briefly engaged to the Hollywood icon, 58, in 1989, added that she ‘thinks it’s sad’ and ‘wishes everybody well’.

However, she recently claimed he was ‘crazy jealous’ and ‘paranoid’, adding that he had an ‘ill temper’ and would get into ‘fights at bars’ regularly.

The Dirty Dancing star told Entertainment Tonight: ‘All I can say about that trial is that it breaks my heart for everybody involved.

‘I just think it’s sad and I wish it was resolved. I just wish everybody well.’

Jennifer, who released her memoir Out Of The Corner last week, wrote that Johnny was ‘paranoid about what she had been up to while he was gone’.

It comes after his ex wife Amber Heard, 36, testified that he was physically and verbally abusive to her on a May 2014 Boston-to-Los Angeles private plane ride out of jealousy that she was working with James Franco on The Adderall Diaries.

The 80s movie star wrote in her book about their long-distance relationship: ‘Johnny was commuting every week back and forth from Vancouver, but had begun more and more regularly to be getting into trouble: fights in bars, skirmishes with cops.

According to The Independent, she continued: ‘He’d started missing his flights home to LA having overslept or, when he did come home, he’d be crazy jealous and paranoid about what I’d been up to while he was gone.

‘I attributed his ill temper and unhappiness to him feeling miserable and powerless to get off [the TV series] 21 Jump Street.’

Amber said in testimony in Thursday’s hearing at the Fairfax County Circuit Court in Fairfax, Virginia, that James was a source of animosity between her and the Pirates Of The Caribbean star during their tumultuous relationship.

She testified that Johnny was physically and verbally abusive to her on a May 2014 Boston-to-Los Angeles private plane ride out of jealousy that she was working with Franco on the 2015 crime drama The Adderall Diaries, People reported.

Amber, who had previously worked alongside James in 2008’s Pineapple Express, said that Johnny put her through a ‘nightmare’ in clashing with her over accepting the acting job alongside him in the film.

Johnny ‘was mad at me for taking the job with James Franco,’ she told the court. ‘He hated, hated James Franco and was already accusing me of kind of secretly having a thing with him in my past, since we had done Pineapple Express together.’

Bombshell: The 80s movie star wrote in her book that he ‘had begun more and more regularly to be getting into trouble: fights in bars, skirmishes with cops’ during their relationship

She said that he was controlling over scenes she filmed that involved ‘any sort of romantic’ interactions.

‘He had already been upset with me and accused me in many arguments about not telling him about scenes that I had, if I had a kissing scene,’ Amber said. ‘I wasn’t explicit about what I was going to do, then I was accused of having withheld information and hiding it from him.

‘So I didn’t want the fight, of course, I didn’t want the argument, but I had to kind of egg-shell tip-toe around how to tell him when I had any sort of scene like that.’

Amber said that Johnny ‘screamed’ when she informed him of her scenes with James in the motion picture, reacting as if she had told him she ‘had had an affair.

‘He was that angry at me,’ she said, adding that she was ‘nervous’ ahead of the trip to Los Angeles and knew ‘something was wrong’ when Johnny boarded the aircraft.

She said, ‘I just knew in every cell of my body something was wrong,’ noting that she attempted to avoid Depp’s probing questions about her romantic scene with James for the movie.

Amber told the court Johnny had asked her if she ‘slipped a tongue’ to James during the scene, and asked ‘about how [she] liked it’ and ‘responded’ to it, and ‘started straight up taunting’ her.

She testified that Johnny had said ‘really disgusting things about [her] body,’ and humiliated her when calling her a ‘slut’ in the presence of security staffers and assistants also on the aircraft.

Emotional: Amber said in testimony in Thursday’s hearing at the Fairfax County Circuit Court, Virginia, that James was a source of animosity between her Johnny

Johnny began throwing items such as ice cubes and eating utensils at her, she told the court, and then slapped her face and kicked her in the back.

‘It was the first time anything like that had happened in front of somebody,’ she said. ‘No one said anything. No one did anything. You could hear a pin drop on that plane. You could feel the tension. But nobody did anything … I felt so embarrassed that he could kick me to the ground in front of people.’

The Edward Scissorhands actor admitted in testimony that the pair had clashed over Franco and said that he thought she could be having an affair with him during their marriage.

The Kentucky-born actor had spoken about the exchange on the plane earlier in the trial, denying that he has ever hit Amber or any woman.

Angry: Johnny is suing her over defamation claims linked to a 2018 article she penned for The Washington Post in which she called herself a ‘public figure representing domestic abuse

Amber had been ‘actively searching’ for an argument after the pair had ‘argued the night before,’ Johnny told the court, adding that he had not been drunk but had taken pain pills prior to the flight.

‘I knew that she was ready for some kind of brawl, and I sat on the plane drawing in my notebook,’ he said. ‘She would verbally heckle, hassle, accuse, poke, prod physically, psychologically and emotionally.’

Johnny is suing his ex-wife over defamation claims linked to a 2018 article she penned for The Washington Post in which the Aquaman actress called herself a ‘public figure representing domestic abuse.’

Attorneys for the actress had sought to have the trial relocated to California, where both Johnny and Amber live, but a judge ruled that the case was properly located in Virginia, where the newspaper’s online servers are based out of.

Johnny in 2020 lost a libel case against the outlet The Sun over their reporting of the split, labeling him a ‘wife-beater;’ his efforts last year to overturn the decision were overruled.

The couple initially met filming the 2011 movie The Rum Diary and exchanged vows in 2015.

They parted ways in May of 2016, at which time Amber looked to obtain a restraining order against the actor amid claims of domestic violence, which Johnny denied. The former pair reached an out-of-court divorce settlement in August of 2016
