The Kissing Booth 3 has arrived on Netflix! And in case you’re curious, yes, Joey King is wearing a wig for almost the entirety of the movie. As a reminder, the Kissing Booth cast filmed the second and third films back-to-back in South Africa, and per People, Joey had recently shaved her head in order to portray Gypsy Rose Blanchard in 2018’s The Act.
While promoting The Kissing Booth 2, Joey shared a behind-the-scenes look at what it took for her to get back in character as Elle—including the hair and makeup team putting on her Elle wig:

Since The Kissing Booth 2 and 3 were filmed at the same time, Joey wore this wig throughout the third installment. But! According to Just Jared, one specific scene in the movie featured Joey’s hair: the very end, when we see Elle in the future. I won’t spoil specifics of that scene just in caseeee, but here’s a BTS moment from filming:

Joey spoke about shaving her head to play Gypsy Rose back in 2018, telling Allure it was no big deal. “I’ve never really had an attachment to my hair. I couldn’t care less what happens to it,” she explained. “No part of me was nervous or was second-guessing it. So many people would ask me, ‘Are you really scared?’ or ‘Are you nervous?’ or say, ‘You’re so brave.’ And I’d go, ‘I’m not brave, I’m just cutting my hair off.’”
