“The Voice” coach John Legend offered some advice to new parents on Tuesday (May 4), during his conversation with E! News‘ “Daily Pop” co-host Lilliana Vazquez.
Legend, who is married to model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen and has two young children, spoke about what first-time fathers can do for their wives.
“As a husband, I feel like one, it’s very difficult right after delivery for a woman. A lot of women deal with postpartum depression. There’s a lot going on with your body and your hormones,” Legend told Vazquez, who is pregnant with her first child.
He added, “As a husband, we’ve got to be reliable. We’ve got to be a rock. We’ve got to be there for our wives. We’ve got to be as present and available as possible to help with whatever needs to be done.”
During the conversation, Legend spoke about how he commended his wife on her “powerful” essay about dealing with postpartum depression after giving birth to their first child Luna to dedicating his “Never Break” performance at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards to her following the loss of their third baby named Jack.
