A Place in the Sun’s Jonnie Irwin, who previously shared his terminal cancer diagnosis with the world, is trying to make the most of quality time with his three toddlers as he fights the tragic disease.
However, he didn’t hesitate to yelp “That’s brutal!” when his son launched the ball towards him during a kickabout.
Jonnie praised his efforts, sharing the video footage on Instagram and captioning it: “Change of sports- quick game of penalties before bedtime. Rex’s effort is going in the @biscuittinco!”
That snippet was his second post of the evening, after also sharing a rugby coaching session he’d taken young Rex to participate in.
“An inspiration to us all – took Rex to rugby training at the excellent @rugbyminis,” he began.

“Coach Ali was breastfeeding when we first arrived and then when the newborn had finished she just stood up and got involved in the class. Now that is a powerful woman!”
Fans were impressed by how the former A Place in the Sun presenter handled the hectic sporting schedule, despite the fact that he had recently been receiving oxygen treatment to help his cancer symptoms.
Although he has admitted to becoming increasingly weak, with some days better than others, he has vowed to join in with his young family as much as he can.
That was a fact that didn’t go unnoticed by his 163,000 Instagram followers.
@lois.a.graham praised: “You remain my personal inspiration at this time – real, humble as all hell… and positively energetic when, I believe, far worse than my stage xx Please continue!”
@flynn_terri added: “God bless you Jonnie!” and punctuated her sentiment with a praying emoji.
Jonnie had been playing with his eldest son, Rex, who is three, while he also shares two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with his wife Jessica.
He has been married for six years and in one recent interview, he addressed the anguish he felt at the prospect of his beloved remarrying.
“In a selfless way I want her to find someone else eventually and have some support, but at the same time, I don’t. It breaks my heart,” he lamented to the Sun.
He tugged on readers’ heartstrings when he added sadly: “It’s not my business, I guess. That’s her life, as much as it hurts me to think this way.”
