- Josh Duggar’s trial is currently set for Nov. 30, 2021
Josh Duggar news has captured the attention of Duggar family fans and critics since his arrest in April 2021. Federal agents arrested Josh on suspicion of downloading child sexual abuse material. Now, fans and critics await to hear what’s next. And sources now note the next step for Josh may be to provide alibis and witnesses.
Duggar family fans and critics remember the 2019 Homeland Security raid
Josh Duggar news took off with his April 2021 arrest — but Duggar family fans and critics had their eye on the situation since 2019. In November 2019, Homeland Security raided Wholesale Motorcars, Josh’s place of work. Initially, many thought Homeland Security agents raided Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s household. Josh’s parents verified this wasn’t the case, though. Instead, the agents had their eye on Josh’s used car lot.
In November 2019, an agent spoke to KNWA news about the situation. “[I do not dispute the information that] HSI was present there [Duggar home] pursuant to an ongoing federal criminal investigation,” a Homeland Security spokesperson said.
Now, in 2021, it appears Homeland Security raided Josh’s car lot after evidence suggested child sexual abuse material may have been downloaded on the premises. The agents confiscated a number of items from the car lot.
Josh Duggar news: Prosecutors allegedly want the court to order Josh to provide his alibi from May 2019
In September 2021, Josh Duggar news continued on, as Josh and his lawyers headed to court after his defense filed four motions. These motions pushed the court to dismiss certain pieces of evidence. Additionally, they hoped to get his case dismissed completely. The court denied the four motions and the dismissal of the case.
Now, The Sun reveals prosecutors requested the courts to order Josh and his legal team to give “any intended alibi defense and that such notice include each specific place where the Defendant claims to have been at the time of the alleged offense.” Additionally, they want Josh’s alibi to include his whereabouts “on or about May 14, 2019, through May 16, 2019, between approximately 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day at Wholesale Motors in Tontitown, Arkansas.”
As for witnesses, prosecutors also want “the name, address and telephone number of each alibi witness on whom the Defendant intends to rely.” The Sun notes some witnesses have already been interviewed, too. The publication does not know their identities.
When is Josh Duggar’s trial date?
Josh Duggar’s trial date is currently set for Nov. 30, 2021. But many Duggar family fans and critics suspect Josh may not actually go to trial. Instead, they suspect he may take a plea deal to keep him and the rest of the Duggar family out of the spotlight. This also could help any jail sentence that could happen.
Additionally, some family followers suspect Jim Bob will push Josh to take a plea deal. TLC dropping Counting On, put the Duggars in a negative light. It’s likely the patriarch of the family will want to mitigate any more bad press.
More Josh Duggar news will likely come as his trial date looms closer.
