I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas break and did whatever made them happy on New Year’s Eve. My favourite way to spend the evening is to have a fancy meal, watch the reworks and stay in a nice hotel.

Every year, I do a vision board with things that I’d love to achieve in the coming year. But I don’t make resolutions as, for me, the new year starts on my birthday in June. I see that as my new year.

Instead, I like to take a moment on New Year’s Eve to look back over the past year and think about my accomplishments. We have been through so much over the past 12 months, we deserve to shout loud and be proud of our successes.

Aiming high

For me, 2022 is going to be all about comedy writing and honing my craft. Last year was such a great year for me, with Loose Women, Strictly, loads of comedy appearances and, of course, this column in OK!.

In 2022, I’m hoping I can continue on the same path. I also hope I can keep active – thanks, Strictly, for putting me on the right path – and strive towards better health.

I think Covid has made us all realise how important our health is, and I’ll definitely be trying to be a bit healthier. I’d also love to have some amazing family holidays, so let’s keep our fingers crossed we get some normality this year.

MasterChef champion

I'm over the moon I won the Celebrity MasterChef Christmas special. For me, it was about sharing my favourite West Indian, Jamaican and Caribbean foods.

My mum was known for cooking the best curry goat, the best rice and peas, and amazing cakes. Some of my greatest memories are around the beautiful dishes she prepared for her loved ones, so being able to showcase them on Celebrity MasterChef warms my heart.

Losing my dad this year meant it was a chance to celebrate my favourite memories of him, too. It meant a lot to be able to celebrate my authentic self and my background.

Congrats, Lewis and David!

I feel like the news got a little lost in the Christmas build up, so I just have to mention how proud I am of Lewis Hamilton and Craig David.

Lewis Hamilton received a knighthood. He’s been an outstanding Formula One driver and won a huge seven titles, which is something that should be recognised and celebrated.

His last title race against Max Verstappen didn’t turn out like we’d hoped, but Lewis dealt with the loss with dignity.
Even when people said he was cheated, he accepted it in good grace and congratulated his opponent. It’s a sign of the kind of gentleman he is.

And I have to congratulate Craig David on his MBE, too. It’s so deserved – the man is a legend!
