June Brown used to do pelvic floor exercises in the BBC canteen, recalls Michelle Collins

June Brown spent her lunch breaks and downtime on set doing pelvic floor exercises and other personal care, according to her fellow Walford castmate Michelle Collins, who played Ian Beale's first wife Cindy on EastEnders.

The BBC actress and all round screen icon strolled Albert Square for decades as Dot Branning, but sadly June died in April at the age of 95 at her home in Surrey.

The beloved star, who once starred in Coronation Street before settling into Walford as Dot, was surrounded by her family and received a flood of tributes in the wake of her death.

A month on, Michelle, 59, reflected on some of her memories with June on-set in a chat with the Loose Women ladies.

Panellist and fellow EastEnders actress Nadia Sawalha admitted: "I think we just all thought she would live forever."

"She did almost!" Michelle joked in response, as she praised June's healthy countenance and how she took care of herself for so many decades.

"She was actually very healthy," she said. "She ate very healthily.

"I know she smoked and loved her red wine, [but] she was very healthy."

Michelle recalled that June always had a "whole box of vitamins" with her as she went on to share a particularly funny memory.

"I saw her once doing her pelvic floor [exercises] on the trolley in the BBC canteen," the soap actress laughed.

"And she was the one to introduce me to the hay diet where you don't mix your proteins or your starches.

"She was a very fit woman hence why she lived for so long," Michelle added.

While June was known as incredibly conscious of her health to others, the star regularly spoke candidly about having a lack of routine.

In her latter years, the screen star maintained that her secret to living a long and happy life was due to doing what she "damn well pleased".

What's more, the actress enjoyed her sweets and dark chocolate, as well as smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol.

Reportedly speaking to The Guardian in 2019, June shrugged: "I’m going to die of something fairly soon, so why not enjoy myself."
