Kate Hudson Forgot the Words to "Girl on Fire" During a Mother-Daughter Singalong

Rani Rose and her mom, Kate Hudson, get an A for effort. In a new Instagram post, Hudson shared an impromptu performance of Alicia Keys' 2012 chart-topper, "Girl on Fire." And while they both have plenty of enthusiasm and commit to the performance, Hudson forgot the words — not that it stopped her. Mother and daughter get through the song together, crawling across a baby gate and as they belt out Rani's "favorite song."

"Thought I'd share the full experience! 7:30 am showing! Rani's favorite song This Girl is On Fire," Hudson captioned the clip, adding a fire emoji. "This is how we do it over here …. we love putting on a show LETS GO!"

"She's just a girl, and she's on fire," Hudson and Rani sang together as the video starts. Then, things start to go off-script: "Living in a fantasy. Mama doesn't know the words."

Rani knew the words, however, singing every line as her mom danced behind her. She finished the song with a bow.

In another post, Hudson shared images from the performance, adding, "Interpretive dance is kind of our thing."

Rani recently turned 3, which her mother commemorated with a post and … a song.

"Our little Rani Rose is 3 today," Hudson wrote on Instagram. "Her birth was as beautiful as the days that have followed. What a gift to our family. Happy Birthday baby girl!!!"
