Kate starred in arguably one of cinema’s most iconic nude scenes of all time in 1997’s Titanic while playing Rose, where she reclined on a sofa and asked love interest Jack – played by Leonardo DiCaprio – to ‘paint her like one of his French girls’.
Despite her bold moment in cinematic history, she insisted those days are fast going behind her as she detailed her feelings on future nude scenes.

‘I hope that in playing Mare as a middle-aged woman — I will be 46 in October — I guess that’s why people have connected with this character in the way that they have done because there are clearly no filters.
‘She’s a fully functioning, flawed woman with a body and a face that move in a way that is synonymous with her age, her life and where she comes from. I think we’re starved of that a bit.’
Elsewhere, Kate revealed she fought to keep an unflattering sex scene with her Mare of Easttown co-star Guy Pearce, which exposed a ‘bulgy bit of belly.’
In order to realistically portray a middle-aged woman in her new HBO limited series, the Oscar winner said her character is ‘a fully functioning, flawed woman with a body and a face that moves in a way that is synonymous with her age.’

‘I think we’re starved of that a bit,’ she said of the scarcity of unfiltered and realistic female bodies on film and television during the interview.
While acknowledging her ‘unglamorous’ appearance in the show may be surprising to some viewers, she said she turned down director Craig Zobel’s offer to edit out ‘a bulgy bit of belly.’
‘Don’t you dare,’ she recalled telling him after he assured her the angle wouldn’t air.
Additionally, she raised eyebrows for sending back the series’ promo poster twice ‘because it was too retouched’ and she knows how ‘many lines’ she really has by the sides of her eyes.

‘It’s nice to sense that Mare was once strong in her youth, but I didn’t want to make her an impossible, superhuman forty-something-year-old,’ she told Emmy Magazine last month.
She added: ‘Mostly women aren’t like that. We do what we can in the midst of the juggle of everything else.’

As for the possibility of her returning to play Detective Mare Sheehan again, the star told TV Line she would love the opportunity.
‘I miss her. I really do. It’s the strangest thing. I feel like I’m in mourning,’ Winslet said. ‘It was an absolutely wonderful role.’
HBO is still calling Mare of Easttown a limited series, and they intend to have it compete in the Limited Series category at the Emmy Awards this year.
The show follows Detective Mare Sheehan, a local Easttown detective who is investigating a young girl’s murder, also starring Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart and Angourie Rice.
