Kevin Federline has congratulated former wife Britney Spears on her surprise pregnancy.
The 40-year old singer confirmed she is expecting a third child – her first with long-term partner Sam Asghari – in an Instagram post shared with followers on Monday.
Former dancer Federline, 44 – whose two-year marriage to Spears ended in 2007 – has since wished her a ‘happy, healthy pregnancy.’
Mark Vincent, Kevin’s lawyer, told NBC News: ‘Kevin is aware of Britney’s Instagram post.
‘He wishes her the best for a happy, healthy pregnancy and congratulates her and Sam Asghari as they plan for the excitement of parenthood together.’

Federline met Spears while working as one of her backup dancers in 2004; following a whirlwind romance they announced engagement just three months later.
The couple were married for two years, with Federline granted full custody of their two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, when they separated – the consequence of a public breakdown in 2007.
According to TMZ, Britney has been paying Kevin $20,000 a month in child support as well as their children’s tuition and school costs.

She has also been paying for their clothing, extracurricular activities, and many other expenses to the tune of nearly $35,000 per month.
In 2018, Federline asked Spears to increase her money for child support to $60,000 a month, citing that ‘the kids are older and the financial circumstances of the parties are significantly different than when the child support was originally resolved.’
It is now reported that Federline has 70 percent custody, while his ex-wife takes 30 percent of unsupervised custodial rights.
A source told Us Weekly in December 2019: ‘Britney does not have much of a relationship with Kevin other than everyday co-parenting stuff. They’re cordial but don’t do very much as a family.’
Federline’s message came after Asghari broke his silence to claim ‘fatherhood is the most important job he’ll ever do,’ after the singer revealed she’s pregnant with his child.

On Monday Spears surprised fans by sharing that she was expecting her third child after previously revealed she was forced to stay on birth control during her 13-year conservatorship.
Asghari captioned his post: ‘Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect.
‘Fatherhood is something i have always looked forward to and i don’t take lightly. It is the most important job i will ever do.’
The couple began dating in October 2016, announcing their engagement five years later in 2021.

On Monday the Toxic hitmaker shared news of her pregnancy on social media, after deciding to take a test when she noticed she’d gained weight while on vacation, and originally thought it was ‘just a food baby’ until she saw the positive result.
Spears also referred to Asghari, 28, as her ‘husband’ in the post, sparking rumours that the pair have secretly wed. DailyMail.com has reached out to reps for the couple for comment.
In her announcement post, she also spoke about suffering perinatal depression during her first two pregnancies.

Perinatal distress is an umbrella term used to describe symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress that women may experience from conception to one year following birth.
Spears explained: ‘It’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression.’
‘I have to say it is absolutely horrible… women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her but now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret.’

Last week, the mother-of-two was seen swimming naked with her assistant Vicky, after rolling around on the beach in a bikini.
Before that, Spears posted a snap of her swimming topless in the ocean while on vacation.
The pregnancy news comes after it was claimed that the singer was forced onto birth control while shackled to her 13-year-long conservatorship.
In a court hearing in June last year, Spears spoke out against her conservatorship publicly, admitting she feels ‘traumatized’ by the controlling system she has been placed under.
She said: ‘I am not happy, I can’t sleep. I’m so angry, it’s insane. And I’m depressed. I am traumatised. I just want my life back.

The hitmaker accused her father and her conservatorship team of refusing to allow her to marry her boyfriend or have children with him.
Spears claimed her conservators have made her get an IUD as a form of birth control so she cannot currently have children, even though she wanted to ‘get married and have a baby.’
She added: ‘I have an IUD inside of myself so that I don’t get pregnant, but [my team doesn’t] want me to have any more children.’
The star slammed her situation as ‘abusive’, and even called for her father and those involved with her conservatorship to be ‘jailed’.

She said: ‘They have me going to therapy three times a week and to a psychiatrist.

‘My dad and anyone involved in this conservatorship, including my management … they should be in jail.’

Following her remote appearance in court, Jamie Spears’ legal team released a statement insisting he ‘loves his daughter very much’.
They said: ‘He is sorry to see is daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr Spears loves his daughter very much.’
Since then, the singer has made no secret of her wish to have more children.
In a topless beach photo from Asghari’s birthday vacation, Spears captioned the post: ‘Planning on having babies in Polynesia!!!!!!’
