Kirsten Dunst interview about ‘awkward’ kiss with Brad Pitt when she was 11 angers Hollywood fans
Kirsten Dunst kissed Brad Pitt when filming Interview With The Vampire aged just 11, and a resurfaced interview is causing a stir among film fans.
In the clip, she describes feeling ‘awkward’ about kissing the then-31 year old, and her assessment of the scene has got no more generous in the years since.
The 1994 film was Kirsten’s breakthrough, as she played a 10-year-old girl named Claudia who was turned into a vampire by Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad) and Lestat de Lioncourt (Tom Cruise).
In the interview, circulating almost 30 years on via TikTok, Kirsten explains how ‘awkward’ she found the scene, because ‘he’s a man so why would I enjoy kissing him?’
After being questioned about it again straight away, the then-12-year-old reiterated: ‘Brad is 31, I mean, he’s not exactly a boy.’

TikTok users watching the resurfaced clip are certainly in agreement on the whole, with one saying: ‘The fact that she had to explain?’
Many reflected on the interview, and film itself as being ‘wild’ and ‘crazy,’ that a child would perform such a role with someone 20 years their senior.
Another comment read: ‘They expected her to have a different answer?’
Clearly this is not a recent development, as Kirsten has faced questions about the scene in many interviews in the years since Interview With The Vampire.
In that time the actress has gone on to great success, starring as Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi’s Spiderman trilogy.
Speaking on Conan in 2014, Kirsten said: ‘I thought it was disgusting.
‘I was 11, it would’ve been weird if I was like “this is amazing.”‘
She also told Vanity Fair in 2021 that it was ‘the worst thing’ about filming the movie, alongside biting the neck of an actor who was apparently sweating at the time.
However she clarified: ‘Other than that I was treated like a total princess on that set.’
She has also been clear that there are no hard feelings towards the Fight Club star, who ‘was like my older brother on set.’
