“Vanderpump Rules” will be “a different show” when it returns for its ninth season this fall, at least according to Lala Kent, who has been featured on the Bravo reality series since its fourth season in 2015 (via Variety).
During a new interview, Kent, who is expected to begin filming the new episodes with her cast mates sometime early this month, admitted that, while she knows the new season will be a lot different due to life changes a number of her co-stars have gone through in recent months, she doesn’t know exactly what viewers will be seeing.
“So many people have asked what can we expect this season and this is the first year that I can say I have no idea,” Kent admitted to Page Six on May 3. “A lot of time has passed, cast members who were key players that are no longer on the show and there has been a lot of things that have said and happened in the two-year period and now we’re getting together where we have to talk about these things.”
Following Season 8, Stassi Schroder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens, and Brett Caprioni were fired from the series due to past racism and, months later, both Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright confirmed in separate Instagram posts that they, too, would not be seen on Season 9.
Lala Kent hopes she's still good at her job
In addition to the exits of the six cast members, Dayna Kathan, Kent, Schroeder, Cartwright, and Scheana Shay welcomed their first children. So, when it comes to the usual, hard-partying behavior of the women and men of the show, many have settled down at home with their families.
“There are mommies now, babies in the mix,” Kent explained during the Page Six interview. “I will say that it’s going to be a different show but I think it’s going to be extremely entertaining.”
“I hope I’m still good at my job!” she added.
Because the coronavirus pandemic has led to SUR Restaurant, where the series is based, being closed for over a year, Kent and her cast mates had been unable to film the new episodes. Now, months after SUR re-opened its doors, she and her co-stars are ready to get back in front of the cameras.
While Bravo has confirmed that Vanderpump Rules Season 9 will premiere sometime this fall, an exact date has not yet been set.
